THE Wests Tigers have added four players to their 2014 roster, including veteran utility Dene Halatau who returns to the NRL club after four seasons at Canterbury.

The Tigers on Monday confirmed Halatau will re-join the club he left in 2009 on a two-year deal.

Coach Mick Potter, who will be without star playmaker Benji Marshall in 2014, has also signed young under-20s halves Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses on four-year contracts, as well as NSW Cup hooker Joel Luani for two years.

Luani has been brought in as possible back-up for skipper Robbie Farah.

Brooks and Moses are both in their first seasons in the Wests Tigers' NYC side, having risen through the junior ranks at Balmain.

Potter said the pair were very talented young prospects with plenty of potential.

"They have shown right throughout schoolboy footy and the NYC that they can cut it easily," Potter said.

"I have no doubt that we will see the best of them in the next couple of years."

Yet we signed Heleta to 2 and Seve to 1 so it seems we have…

Which what it should be not like these idiotic 4 year deals before they have played 1st Grade , just cause there carving up the lower Grades at the time .

And yet I mention that we put to young guns on a long term contract and I need a brain surgeon…didn't seem to worry the club with two unknown FG halves did it....When will the club learn, nothing is a certainty, but we can't keep giving players away because we think they may or may not come to fruition..you have to try before you buy, obviously we tried plenty before we bought Brooks and Moses ..4years each as unknown NRL players...fmd. ..

Happy don't get anything done with your tumour…it's the best part of you ...hahaha...

Rowdy has been with us how many years before his horrific injury...and was a magnificent player for us before that..these kids are no different to Brooks and Moses and you all think their our future,so why not give them the time..anyway each to their own opinion,I forgot yours is the only one on this forum....

Sorry , I won't post a differing opinion from you again

We all just agree and sing kumbeya and hold hands now ??

You can and you always do ,no problem, but don't put someone down for having their opinion…or is this the Happy and his friends forum, and their opinion is the only one that matters....

I merely stated that if these two kids are so good, why not hang on to them for a bit longer to show their potential,or should we develope them for others to take..

PS ..sing whatever you like, won't worry me......

It appears potter and Mayer administration had no idea what they were doing with recruitment.. unfortunately due to previous mess we have to wait and see how this mob do… Us tiger fans have been very patient with player signings.

They would of offered him at least two years???
Maybe he has future plans???? Elsewhere!?!

Think it is more to do with returning from
Long term injuries.

Wasn't putting you down , it was a general comment

So many people spit about the length of Rowdy's contract and that annoys me

At the time most people thought it was a sweet deal for the Tigers based on his performances , he was probably the number 4 centre in the game behind Inglis ,Lyon and Hodges at the time The reported amount averaged out at about 380 k /year at the time

And I can't remember claiming this Forum as my own at any time

I'm just one of 4702 members who have the same rights as everyone else and wants to show their passion for the WT's

Shorter deals for younger players is a win / win situation for both the clubs and the players involved

I'm happy with these re-signings, the club has massive wraps on Seve too, so provided he kicks on, we'll look after him.

Just to clear things up….

Most players are only signing on until 2017 for one reason...
The new TV rights deal ends and is likely to be renewed and increased.
Therefore players will be able to be paid more after 2017.

Don't read too much in to it.
Very happy with these signings.
Big futures, hoepfully.

Awesome news. Well done to both the boys. Now we just need to sign Docker and Pauli Pauli and I'm a happy man.

Point taken Happy and my apologies…but gee I get sick of hearing that we have a fantastic juniors base and the future is going to be so bright, yet once again it's about rebuilding and restructuring...So I was thinking if these kids are so good why don't we keep them as long as we can..,remember Teddy was going to Raiders et,etc,...As you know we can't but anyone and we haven't got great strength in reserve,so why not develope the ones with the stand out ability for as long as possible...that was the point I was trying to make...cheers....

The club is in at least one good position they have a pathway to many young players with good prospects …you sign many so hopefully you might get ONE that is the real deal in the end .
I have no problems with this as in the end you just might get lucky .... The other side of the coin we already have a talent that looks like breaking into the big time and his contract is up and looks like moving on because the club has individual's that seem to struggle in making decisive decisions moving forward ...he who hesitates , this club has major problems with vision and the future paths and positions of many players young and old.

Seve is a gun given the injuries and lack of playing time a year extension is a smart move by the club IMO

If we hadn't have offered 4 year contracts Brooks might have walked - someone like Canberra would have taken the chance - and we'd be complaining about the club letting them go. There must be dozens of considerations that go into contract decisions.

Would you rather re-sign these kids and hope they come good in firsts, or spend the next 10 years hearing fans complain about how we let them "slip through our grasp". People are still banging on about Ryan Hoffman and he's almost retired now.
