We have a team to be proud of WT.

What do you mean they'll learn to close games out? They already know how to, they just can't execute. It's been a tough 6 days taking on last premiers and runners up one after the other…however we blew a number of chances to win last week and capitulated terribly tonight. Instead of winning one or both games, we lost both. Sorry but that does not fill me with pride nor confidence.

Were you expecting to win either match ? Look at the pre-game threads, the expert tips and comments and then compare it to how we played in both games. We exceeded expectations in both matches and could've won both (especialy tonight).

The fact we didn't win comes down to experience, especially tonight. Experienced halves know how to get their team home with an 18 point start and 20 minutes to go. Our halves didn't tonight but thats a lesson they will learn and hopefully apply it in future games. An example was Moses' little chip kick in extra time rather than going for yards or Brooks going for the pressure pass to Liolevavae on second tackle rather than building pressure on their line and sealing the game. They will learn though..

So far we've played 4 games.

We have won the two we should've won

And lost the two we were expected to lose despite being the better team for some parts against the defending premiers and overall against the runners up.

What more do you expect from the youngest team in the competition ?

I know everyones getting sick of the "we will be a great team soon" line but this time you just know it's true. We have a new, smart coach, our exciting spine is finally getting games together and there is a clear vision for the future with the guidance of a stable front office.

This is the year it begins. No more excuses. We should make the top 8 this year.

Good post Tony….. I'm so excited.
Things are looking up for the WT.

I said one thing in the other thread about seeing the improvement that I'll reiterate here (paraphrasing myself!):
I think people are excusing a loss that should never have been a loss because the team is young.
You know what? I simply don't buy into all this acceptance of losing last night - this is literally a losers mentality!

This doesn't mean I don't think they tried everything in their power to win, and I am and always will be (I hope!) proud of the tigers and love that they are playing with heart, but kids don't learn life lessons by being told "it's okay - you're still young". They need to know what is expected of them and how to learn from their mistakes.

Also, just want to add that lately I've read a few threads where people are really slating someone else because they don't share their opinion. I believe being able to express your view freely is important in a forum and a great way to get different perspectives. Use the "this is the internet, grow up" line if you like, but if people are beaten down enough times they'll give up and others will hesitate to be frank and honest for want of not upsetting the status quo. :rant

…that was a pretty good rant IMO! And if you don't agree with it I'll leave and stop posting, or just say what everyone else is...

Don't think it was the halves fault at the end (apart from missing the field goals)
Brooks, and to a lesser extent, Moses seemed to open up so much more in attack.
Moses has a huge ticker - never backed away from all their big men coming at him, including the try saver.

Yep - Moses tough as, and still built like a kid. Love how he has a go.

I posted pre game that this game will show if the team truly has depth or not…. well I think the Origin period could be a very good time for the team , there certainly is depth not of huge experience but certainly youthful spirit and talent.
I was more disappointed with the finish of the game and the decisions made by the Captain again ...Farah has to take a back seat when the pressure is on , until he realises this there will be more of the same, I would imagine that JT was not a happy man about this.
I am starting to think that this team will give the top 8 a shake , if the spine can stay on the field anything can happen ,the talent that these guys have is immense. A couple of decent signings and WOW is there a Premiership in a couple of years they will certainly give it a shake.
