We have nothing to lose

Personally, I won't be too bothered if we don't win the premiership this year. Just the fact that the team made it back to the finals (and in such a convincing way) will be enough for me. Of course, I'd prefer us not to go two and out but if we end up losing in week three or the GF that won't be so bad. However, if we DO win it will just be some incredible, delicious icing on the top of the cake.

As far as I can see the pressure is ENTIRELY on the Dragons. They were supposed to win it last year and really should this year. Whenever they finally win another premiership the first thing I'll think is "About time!" They are way overdue. Heck, they were overdue when we beat them in the preliminary final back in '05\. So I'll be going into this finals series expecting little because in my mind the premiership is not something we should really expect the Tigers to win this year. Considering how consistent the Dragons have been over the years it'll almost be unfair if we win it this year after our smash and grab job in '05 and then the four years of near misses.

But, damn, there'll be NOTHING sweeter if we do! Especially if it's against those Dragons!

I agree somewhat with those comments but bugger the dragons. i would love to see them choke again this year and when they do any other team can win this comp on their day. i just hope we can string a good month of footy together and see our boys in another grand final.

We win this weekend and we will finish outright second… And you will accept anything less than a grand final appearance?

We are well in the mix to take this out.

Lets just put the rack back in the cue then. I'm assuming you haven't played much sport in the past?

I've played plenty but not so much in recent years. My post is from a fan's perspective, though. Wasn't that obvious? I am fully aware that the players will be going all out to win the premiership. All I'm saying is that I won't be too crushed if they don't.

All i asked for at the start of the year was to win those close games and head towards being dominant.
We've achieved that, so anything else would be a bonus
TBH, i'm more excited about next year! Imagine our side with Moltzen in it!

….. and hopefully Tui!! If him and moltzen get back to their best, we sign Reni and Fifita/Woods rise the ranks, we will really dominate the competition next year!

I'm excited about this year too, but I think we have looked more like finals contenders the last 4 years. It's amazing what hardening up our defense has done to our position.

Couldn´t disagree more. The same could have been said following our run to the finals in 2005\. Who would have thought after that run that we would miss the finals for the following four years?

This is the time where we stop worrying about other teams and focus on our game .What ppl expect of Dragons has nothing to do with us and i think we should shut all that out and do what we have been doing most of the last 6 weeks.

To come this close and say we are not too fussed about winning the GF is a thought that should be banned.. Its a SIN..

Its 05 again baby , and the same next year …

Our injury list is getting bigger by the match, at full strength or nearly full strength we can go with any team anywhere but over coming these injuries is going to be tough,
We need to win on Friday, that should give us two bites of the cherry and allow us to get some injured cattle some extra time to get right. Lose and we are looking at fourth and that can be a very shaky position to be in. Would be a very empty feeling to come this far and depart the final series after week one.

Last year everyone thought Drags were a lock and the Choked.

you guys are right we have to play our own game despite adversity and troops being injured.

This is a 100% MUST WIN.

Im Hanging for Friday.

Wests Tigers have made the top 4\. Hopefully they go all the way this year. Next year looks promising but we could get even worse injuries next year.

Personally I am caught between what feels worse, the pain of defeat or the uncertainty of victory. I haven't been this jazzed about games for 5 years, and I'm living on the edge. I'm finding losing is having more of an effect on me than in seasons past. I think it was kevin Keegan who said that it's more important mentality not to lose than to play to win.

Yeh that's the fear I have too; losing on Friday then again in the first week of the semis and results not going our way. That would not really do justice to what has been a very satisfactory year.

Anyway none of that has happened yet and jagging a win on Friday will be a huge step towards another grand final.

My hope at the beginning of the year was for the WTs to make the 8\. Now that they have I'm sure they will go for broke, the premiership or nothing. Tigers magpies Tigaars!!

though im not sure if it was just an excuse to make me feel better or whether i really felt this way, but every year for the 15+ years of not being in the finals since THAT gf (i hate how it's rated 'the best ever')(& yes unfortunately '05 hasn't cured me) i would console myself by saying at least i don't have to go through that pain again.

so although i understand what the OP is saying, when i read "I'd prefer us not to go two and out but if we end up losing in week three or the GF that won't be so bad" it sent shivers down my spine.

please tigers keep our perfect record intact. i don't want to find out whether i would really prefer a relatively painless meek exit in week 1 compared to a horrid life memory of a extra time GF loss.

We have to take these opportunities when they are in front of us. We all thought 2006 was going to be a good year remember.
