We must take a Gamble

Lolohea to 6
Liddle 9
Gamble # 17
Gamble can cover 6 and 9
He could also play centre if required
And a handy kicker

Hooker is probably one of the more demanding position in the NRL..

I don't understand how people think a kid who have never played there let alone NRL can cover it even for a short period or god forbid the rake went down 2mins into the game…

Stop passing the toads around happy...

Now I am not saying to play Gamble at Hooker for the whole game
But he could be a good backup for Liddle
I am saying if he is on the bench I am sure he wouldn't let the team down if we needed him to cover that position and Half
He can tackle well
He can pass
He can run
He can kick
He is 189cm and 97kg and wouldn't be out of his element

Cameron Smith is 185cm tall and 90kg so there is nothing wrong with Tysons size
Tyson is a talented football player and needs a start somewhere
Everyone says we need more attack and here is the answer
But that's just my opinion
Time will tell if I am right

If you think he is a hooker youve completely missed what makes him a good player.

He is a ball runner. 5/8, centre or back row thats it.

Nobody who watched TMM stink the cowboys dummyhalf role up on Thursday night would ever suggest Gamble for 9\. Seriously hooker is a specialist role, McIllwricks terrible at it and he’s played it his whole life!

I can’t believe how desperate some people are to get him in the side, MWZ is in doubt, maybe we should play him on the wing?

I think your missing my point

I said cover
Not full time Hooker
Unless you wish to carry two specialist Hookers into the game all season
When Liddle comes back from his injury do we play another specialist Hooker on the bench for cover
If so
Who covers for Benji when he goes down injured in the 1st 10 minutes
Or do we make him play on and get further injured like Inglis last season
Then he is out for the season
Maybe you prefer Mclwrick on the bench and expect him to cover at half
Is that your answer
Don't suggest Taylor or Reynolds because they are injured
I think Gamble would make a good Utility player
And just on another note didn't Peter Wallace move from the halves to Hooker
Yes Peter has played a lot more games i know but
Never say never
Who would you pick to fill the utility roll
It is a very important roll in today's game
Is it not

Sorry going to have to agree to disagree on this.

Gamble is in no shape or form a hooker, not even a back up one.

Its like saying Wally Lewis, Scott Hill, Brett Kenny, Laurie Daley, Brad Fitler etc could fill in at hooker.

Not suited at all.

You can't just get a brain snap and play anyone at DH. This is not Fantasy League or some reality TV show - this has nothing to do with how good a player Gamble is.

We are a team struggling at this stage for attack, mainly because we have been concentrating on defence. To solve the problem of our attack you want to put a player there that has no experience in the position at all.

McIlwrick and Godinet have been playing DH of years and they are falling short of the mark - but Gamble is going to walk in and be Cameron Smith - don't think so Chief. I also note you have said cover, that is no excuse, he still has to play there.

Give Liddle a couple of games - you won't have to have a second hooker on the bench - he is an 80 minute player when fit.

Please don't equate Gamble with Wallace at this stage of his career for God's sake. At least let him play one NRL game first.

It is quite obvious that Marshall will be the utility when all are fit and back on deck.

Gamble will get his chance and I would hope that it will not be because of some hair brained scheme of playing him out of position (where it will do more harm than good) in the centre or DH. This would give him a huge chance of failing and ending up an also ran.

I don't want this and I am pretty sure most people don't either.

It's clear that Cleary is playing the waiting game for Liddle's fitness. He hasn't changed Godinet or McIlwrick in 3 games, even though I'm sure he's aware at how they are missing the mark (Godinet more so than Mc, too many forward passes/askew balls).

It's early days, the best thing to do right now is work Liddle back into the pack, get his fitness back to 80 minutes - solves the problem we have in a handful of games.

Throwing Brooksy, Thompson or the likes in there will do us absolutely no good - we are literally chucking them into the deep end and praying that they magically fix everything, as well as we lose that player in that position meaning we have to cover the gaps with the 2nd best.

The last thing we want to do is backtrack our progress, that was the Tigers of the past, if we go on to lose against the Eels by a small margin because of the attack, but once again we play for 80 minutes and defend like we have been then it's not a loss in my opinion. We are merely building towards a better us game-by-game, whilst waiting for our first choice players to get fit - don't forget we haven't seen JR since pre-season. He'll add a lot to our attacking dynamic.
