We need a halfback.

As much as Luke Lewis would have been a good signing, we still would have troubles winning a comp without a quality halfback. Until we address the issue, forget premierships. No team has won a comp with a average halfback. Sign someone like Trent Hodgkinson, 4 year deal with 2 in our favor. What have we got to lose. If your not going to get Cronk or Thurston, don't pay overs for someone like Pearce at $600k, theres still quality at $300k, just include plenty of incentives for goals that they achieve for the club.

I wouldn't mind new ideas, & we don't need to worry about the celery cap.

We have an 18 year old halfback who is as good as they go in Luke Brooks. There is no use signing a guy for four years and risking losing Brooks or Moses. They will form the future of our club, and we need to make sure they stay Tigers rather than rushing to sign a Hodkinson for a short term fix.

Never heard of them. You think they can make the grade?

I think Pearce would be a good signing for the right price. He would take a lot of pressure off of Benji and Farah, something that hasn't happened this season. The last time we had an actual half in Rob Lui, look how far we went.

There is also Billy Kit.

It is the beauty of having two streams of juniors….

Mate 90% of the youngsters in the club won't even make it to first grade. And don't get confused with short term fixes, that's your thoughts not mine. My idea is to reward future halves with contracts that feature heavily in our favor.

future future future future…..
so let's just sacrifice two years and make do with whatever no body sheens puts in the 7, just like he has done for the last 5 years... NO THANKS!
hodkinson is not a bad idea imo, he doesn't strike as a one club man, anyone know when he is off contract?

pearce and robson are off contract in 2014.. too late.
and didn't cronk JUST re-sign earlier this year for 3-4 years?
not sure if thurston would want to come to WT, too queenslandy.. would love him here though, best player in the game

we have to come to terms with any average halfback, but has to be a halfback with a decent kick, confident and able to organise the team.
said this earlier in another thread and personally never seen the guy play, but saw some highlights and wouldn't mind him here: jarrod sammut.

I recently saw them in the Aust Schoolboys Championships - Brooks looks the goods and is quite solid and nuggetty for his age, Moses does some brilliant things but needs to fill out a fair bit over the next couple of years to be a real chance in NRL - guess we will know a bit more next year - i believe they will be the halves in NYC.
