We need a new halfback and we need to lock it in now

Brooks is not the answer. Overpaid and ineffective.
We shouldn't be entertaining the idea of resigning him at all.

JLJ can get the job done for a quarter of the coin and compliment Moses by giving him the lead.
JLJ can kick goals and he is already signed.

Even a swap for Adam Renoylds I'd take that.

I dont think we can carry 2 young halves with bad kicking gsmes and terrible defence. Most people agree Moses offers more so lets get him an experienced half partner with a level head who csn also tackle.

Give him more than 2 games atleast

If he's still this bad in another few weeks, bring JLJ in and suddenly lettimg go of Brooks isn't such a bad idea

Maybe we can get DCE. Surely Manly will be looking for someone to pick up some of his $1m + salary

We need Moses to be the leader and should be the dominant one much like Thurston. We need another halfback to play a supporting role only.
When JLJ and Moses are together it's a great combination. He can defend, kick goals which leaves Moses with little pressure.
Brooks only creates more pressure for Moses and then he tries to do some magical crap to compensate.

It's not working is all I know.

Give Brooks more games? hes played over 70 games. Played well in maybe 15-20 of them.

Id look for another halfback as well.

How many good halfbacks have set the world on fire in their first 4 years of first grade? Iirc Thurston was a nobody until he moved to Cowboys which was when he was about 23-24

He's had 1 good game and 1 poor game this year. If he gets motm this whole forum will be shouting to resign him immediately

Im not judging him on this year. Im judging him on his career. If we pay him 4-500,000 im ok. However if he asks for 800,000 then he can go..

Not sure of the exact number, but he's had a lot, and has gone backwoods. How many more do you want to see
I'd still like to see him with a different 5/8 he's got talent but we are unlikely to see it while he's still here

I was as impressed with his first effort this season as I was disappointed in his 2nd. I know people are ready to lynch him immediately, but I'm happy to leave the noose in the cupboard for now.

I don't think JLJ is the answer & never will be. So, even if we are going to dump Brooks at year's end, I want the coach to continue supporting him in public.

We don't need a superstar halfback. JLJ fits the criteria much like Michael Morgan does with JT. Not a world beater but knows his role.
Moses and JLJ have partnered before and haven't lost when starting together.
We need money to fix other positions in the squad before we go dumping near a million bucks for this overdue kid.

I rate Morgan along the same lines of Jack Bird , you'd be paying 700 k + for either of them

With the increase in salary cap it is a players market , especially with the indecision of the NRL with an actual cap figure for 2018 and beyond

Obviously meant this year?

His performance in round 1 had a lot more positives than negatives in round 2.

Round 2 the whole team was pretty bad, not just him

And believe me I'm all for this year being his make or break year but I think people are being a bit harsh judging him THIS year after only 2 games.

I also rate Morgan that's why I used their halves paring as an example.
Morgan plays second fiddle to JT, that's what we need.
When both Moses and Brooks both trying to assert their mark on the game in attack at the same time you get what happens last week.
Too many cooks in the kitchen spoil the broth.
Moses needs to be king playmaker for us.

Brooks is going to ask for around the same amount as money

Michael Morgan has played for Queensland and Australia, he's a gun player…

I know. I was just using their paring as an example.
JT holds the reigns while Morgan supports him. Not diluting plays with both in control.

And we would be mad to agree to it.
We have someone to support Moses already, he can tackle, kick goals and will free up a bench spot.
It's a tragedy the JLJ is even on the bench, it shows JT is ready to install him soon. Well I hope so anyway.
