We need a new halfback and we need to lock it in now

I was as impressed with his first effort this season as I was disappointed in his 2nd. I know people are ready to lynch him immediately, but I'm happy to leave the noose in the cupboard for now.

I don't think JLJ is the answer & never will be. So, even if we are going to dump Brooks at year's end, I want the coach to continue supporting him in public.

We don't need a superstar halfback. JLJ fits the criteria much like Michael Morgan does with JT. Not a world beater but knows his role.
Moses and JLJ have partnered before and haven't lost when starting together.
We need money to fix other positions in the squad before we go dumping near a million bucks for this overdue kid.

I agree that we don't necessarily need a star half to partner Moses, but comparing JLJ to Morgan is crazy.

Moses & JLJ played together when we lost to the Titans last year.

Yeah Brooks IMO has 5 weeks to get his act together for the WT to even consider offering him a contract.

IMO he is under more pressure than JT to perform in 2017

Omg. I'm not comparing the players. I'm comparing the halves paring. Please read. Please!!!!!
One dominate half like NQ is what I want for us.

Oh, I read! It's easy to say you want a less dominant half companion like Morgan. He's a star. It's different to say you want a less dominant half companion like JLJ, Jeff Robson, Daniel Mortimer or Ray Thompson. I promise, you'll notice the difference.

As I said, I'm not opposed to a complimentary half, especially if cheaper, but I sat through 3 years of Johnny Morris. It's still a gamble and the good ones aren't cheap.

I agree. A decision on Brooks needs to be made before a decision on the coach.

I was speaking in the roles they play.
JT has control and Morgan supports.
We have two guys trying to control it without support. Get me.
Too many cooks in the kitchen was evident last week.

Brooks is unable to support Moses, he goes missing so I suggest get a good support player in JLJ and give Moses the keys.
I only suggest LJL because he is ready, cheap and of course a gamble but we have gambled a lot more on Brooks and it's failed.

We also have Rankin and Hunt available. Have not seen anything to suggest that JLJ is a giant step up from these.

He is a way better defender than all of them combined. That will do me.

JLJ has looked solid in every single Nrl game I've seen him play. Would be completely fine with him replacing Brooks if Brooks doesn't fire in the coming weeks

It sounds like their performance in State Cup today might suggest otherwise.

I say get him on the market now and try and offload him. We need to invest in either a quality centre or second rower but the club doesn't seem it necessary. Have to love being a supporter of this shambles of a club.

He is on the market. It's just that we haven't said we don't want him.

And if we're wise, we never will. Just make the other players the priority. After (if!) we have them signed, you say, "Sorry. Would have loved to have signed you, but we spent all our money on Mitch & Teddy. It's the salary cap."

There's no doubt the club has to make some big decisions regarding recruitment. For all the talent that we have seen Brooks show from time to time, he's just not consistent. He has been a consistently poor defender, and as things currently stand, we're far more consistent performances from JLJ, who is pretty solid at everything without having that brilliant attacking streak in him which Brooks shows glimpses of from time to time. Out of the "Big 4", Brooks is the last one to worry about ATM.

Yes i think JLJ and Moses go well together and I have stated as much in past threads. Sure would save us a lot of money not paying overs for Brooks and we could concentrate on fixing up the glaring weaknesses at centre and the back row.

If they don't want to use Littlejohn in the halves then another option would be to sign Jeff Robson - a decent no-nonsense half with plenty of experience who wouldn't cost the earth. These are the types of players who would compliment Moses's style of play better than Brooks does, imo.

JLJ is nowhere near as creative as Brooks

Nobody is disputing that.
We need someone to support Moses, not hinder.
We need defensive starch. Not turnstiles.
Moses can control the game on his own, just needs a stable partner in crime that won't go missing.

Last week was perfect example of two guys trying to make a play on their own.
Hence all the mistakes from them. The pressure is on the both of them, they are playing for contracts right now.

It's interesting times.
