I've said it many times

Throw Harry Grant or Brandon Smith 1mil

This is 100% the right call.

You overpay for the spine and im ok with Laurie, Doeuhi and Hastings so hooker is where to fill the void.

We also need 2 backrowers but no idea where we get them to partner Blore

What about Sims from dragons?

Yes he's 31 but looks after his body & still playing origin.

I believe he's a really good person off the field and would be a great leader for the young guys

We just need a coach that can attract talent

We need a new playing group first then, because no talented player would want to play with what was dished up yesterday no matter who was the coach.

What is the next overpaid signing going to do that the recent half dozen have been able to?

Well its all about quality.

Reynolds was never a 800k player and Mbye was never a 900k player. Anyone who watched closely knew very much the level of their capabilities. I knew straight away these were both poor signings. BJ as a strike centre at 600-700k, probably not the best idea when other positions aren't firing. I am sure we canpick up someone far more reliable than guys like this.

An article by Paul Gallen - he suggests the same thing. An interesting take on the situation coming from a former player and not a journo.

After the JTJ experiment I agree.

Correction - we need a club that attracts talent.

Hi all

While it is great to put faith in our juniors, we do need to get one big signing to get the ball rolling. Unfortunately, at the moment, if we are up against any other club (basically anyone), we will lose unless we pay overs (and sometimes we still miss out).

So while Maguire/Pascoe might say we won't overpay, what do we do? Because if we offer the same or similar to most clubs we miss out. So we probably need to do this for 1-2 signings (all be it they need to be quality signings, not ageing overated players). So when we look at the 2022 off contract list (next year is too late), who is the one marquee guy we have to splurge on to get the ball rolling?

Payne Haas

James Graham had a good take on it

He said instead of buying a $600k player on $800k we’re better off going for a genuine $1m player and offering them $1.5m

Only problem is the $1m players only get to that level because they are driven to succeed. They're not going to throw their career down the toilet to come here.

You also run the risk of it not being the right player.
Lattrell Mitchell is a brilliant player but I don't think he is the type we need to provide leadership and push standards.
He is a final piece to a good team, not the foundation to build on.

Tariq Sims imo. He'll be 32 next year and on 650k, he's good in the right setup. He works at origin because he's allowed to do the impact stuff which he's very good at rather than the grunt work. Great for team culture, he could be a good get for the youngsters at the tigers.

This bloke even ran 100+ more meters than Norman did.
