Perhaps someone could offer to cut his hand off (or get a crocadile )

Surely it will be the Darwin Crocs

I think it should be Perth and a second Brisbane club that should be brought into the NRL.. and maybe by 2020 , if no team has yet relocated to the central coast bring the bears and a central QLD team or potentially another NZ team…..

I don't mind Pirates at all. It's better than these "modern" team mascots. (Storm, Force, Rebels, Suns, WTF?!?!)

The question is, would a Perth side cater to more fans than a 2nd NZ team? I think the NZ market is an untapped gold mine, this whole "they just care about rugby" is utter bull, if they had a quality league team and a derby, league's popularity would sky rocket.

I think it has a lot to do with the TV rights too, so the time zone makes it attractive to have another live game on TV.

Only thing would be where to put the team? Christchurch would have been a option had the Earthquake not happened. Although Union will almost always be #1 here League is insanely popular, possibly more so than cricket. Most young people are into both codes, its mostly the traditionalists (or old farts?) who go rugby this, rugby that.

One problem they would face is getting the game to schools. Most of the schools where you would find all the best players are traditional schools, and you know what that means. Rugby is everything and these schools, you won't be seeing league their anytime.

Although there are a lot of people who would like to convert its just not going to happen. If you go to a private school you are expected to play for the school. Club cannot come first, otherwise you are breaking a sort of agreement between you and the school.

I think in the future the NRL should beat all rival codes and start a team out of Tasmania. They are starved of all national team sports bar cricket. My feeling is they will get sell outs and really embrace their team, what other options do they get to see. Even relocating a Sydney team their would be a good idea for the locals. Call them the Tasformers. Lol

At least a Pirate is a tangible mascot. How do you represent Storm in a tangible form?!

I dont know if anyone saw the Newcastle mascot the other night? It was a jester! I mean come on. How unintimidating is that?! They should've had someone in shiny armour with a sword etc, not this bloke:

What happened to the knight on the horse?

Have a read of this. To me it sounds very amateurish

I still think the 'West Coast' name is a mistake

Somewhat at Cash Converters over there must like RL. I seem to remember them being the Western Reds major sponsor.

Kids will love the logo….plenty of merchandise opportunitys with that

The journos will be hoping they get in, the headline puns will write themselves.

I think Perth is the answer long term, heap of ex pats, heap of potential sponsors and time zones are a winner for live games on the east coast.

Whether the Sage/Elias bid or the WARL bid, one of them IMO is the obvious choice.

All for the WA bid. The Reds were shafted and a huge opportunity was lost 16 years ago. I think RL owes it to the faithful in that state.

WA makes sense for the expnsion of the game and also for the timezone factor when it comes to TV rights/scheduling. And imagine how many NZ born, Perth raised kids will grow up to play in this team and then get selected for NSW or QLD Origin teams?

I think the logo and name is a stinker. But then I thought Melbourne Storm sounded like a netball team.

I thought Western Cubs would have been better. You could have two mascots;

1\. A cute baby bear, and
2\. A 21yo FIFO worker in a lowered HSV ute doing circle work behind the in goal.
