Wests Heritage round advertising

I can't find the story online (other than League Unlimited), but there is a small article in today's Terror stating that channel 9 has backed down to Brisbane and will move the round 26 Brisbane v Manly match at Suncorp to a Sunday 3pm kick off.

This is to allow Darren Lockyer's last match at Suncorp to be a 3pm kick off instead of Friday night which was 9's preference.

How about that…..

What !?!?!? Hang on a sec, The FIB said he tried as hard as he could to keep this game on a Sunday but 9 wouldn't budge !!!

Sorry but the sooner we just drop the heritage rounds the better. Maybe they should be played every five years or so, it just causes to much angst.

we should just have ONE jumper for the whole season, with equal amounts of black white and orange.

No one really seems to get it . The club and the majority of its fans want a stand alone club ,stand alone officials and stand alone jersey Granted the jersey should have the three colours of the merged clubs but that is about it . Lets move forward and create our own history ,not relive our past clubs history (unless it is Wests Tigers history)

I understand where you are coming from. But this year in 2011, the club has failed miserably to do that.

So the best way for it to move forward with no bickering, is to have one absolute Balmain jersey, and one absolute Wests Jersey.

That way there can NEVER be any bickering. NEVER.

Just the other day my daughter who is 10 and born after the merger told me all about the history of the Balmain Tigers and how sad it was when we were forced to merge with Western Suburbs. :wtf

I was taken aback because she has always known the Wests Tigers. Seems she had been given a history lesson from her grandparents and aunties and uncles.

I calmly made light of it and said, well they could have merged with parra and wests could have merged with the bulldogs, just think about that!!

I think we got the merger right (but i see your point bug, that is from an old balmain supporter perspective) We need a board and ceo with no allegiance to either, maybe that could do the trick. :slight_smile: :slight_smile:

I heard no Gripes when our 10 yr Jersey was mostly white (Very reminisant of the alternate Maggies jersey from the 90's)

The ''we'' I referred to is Wests Tigers, thats why I said you take the white from black orange and white (Wests Tigers colours) you get black & orange....just like the big bold diagonal stripe I see on the front of the website advertising this weeks game - Balmains colours. See image above

Colours to a lot of people are very very important, if you dont care thats fine, but colours define a club much like the name and logo...weve had our colours for 12 years now, our old clubs had them for 91 years, they dont change, theyre staunch.
If you dont care thats fine, but dont belittle those that DO care

We play in predominately white all the time! I'm originally a balmain fan, i never give it a second thought.

We have 2 magpies on our jersey, no reference to Balmain anywhere on the jersey, Dont give a rats about that either.

When they play at Campbelltown I can't get there but love it, cause it is a proper home ground

I admit im not thinking about the wests side of the venture when they call Leichhardt the spiritual home, but I bet you never think about the balmain side when Rabs talks about the Fibro spirit

I think at the end of the day, WT have blundered and need to put their hand up. The CEO admitted at the Wests AGM that there is a perception in the public eye and Community that Wests Tigers are seen to be Balmain. He said he will look at ways to try and change that perception.

So what is one of those ways? A big bold Black and Orange diagonal stripe across the advertisement for this game and a 'Balmain' Heritage shield to boot !!

If that was the advert for a normal WT game I would be peeved, but the fact that it's an advert for a 'Wests' Heritage game is the absolute height of arrogance by the CEO and his team.

He has no interest what so ever in doing anything to help change the public and Community perceptions that Balmain are the dominant partner in this JV.

To those of us who love the JV, who believed that all will and should be equal, the way the Wests group side of the JV has been treated is an absolute disgrace. If things do not improve, I can see that moves will be made by those with power, to have his position reviewed.

The Wests Tigers advertising for this game that appears in the newspapers and the Wests Tigers opening web page is typical of management that isn't to keen to give too much away to the _'other side of the joint venture'_ as the Fib calls them.

So how do you think the WT have gone about advertising the Wests side of the JV for this game? In a game that is supposed to be celebrating the 61' grand final between Wests and St George, the Wests Tigers have typically chosen to advertise it in their own special way.

Yes folkes, the Wests Tigers will celebrate the Magpies by having the the Wests Tigers Logo imposed over a big bold **Black and Orange** Heritage Shield. :laughing:

Get over it and move on. Why waste too much money advertising when clearly 35k will rock up and a HUGE TV audience will see the black and white of wests. As stated previously, I'm sure channel 9 will do a special tribute for wests and st George. Not to mention the festivities on the ground before hand.
