It is a ridiculously poorly written article.

Calls for players to be suspended if they make themselves unavailable for selection is hilarious.

Jamie Lyon would never play an NRL game

It used to be the case not so long ago

Apparently the wording in the contract states a player does not have to play rep footy but cant play for his team that weekend. Obviously wrtitten before the rep weekend existed.

I just think its a bit rough that the NSW coach can say that the likes of Mitch Pearce doesnt have to bother to play. Farah would not have had to play either if he was fit. Its either all in or none.

Exactly right Gallagher. Foxsports had an article on that very subject: how now there are no club games that weekend it is an idle threat.

IMO, the best point in the case for wests and brooks is the obvious one of the walk ups for origin not having to play city/country. How hypocritical if it was the nrl whinging?! Sounds to me like the media being the media…

In any case, regardless of age, how would it ever be more prestigious for a 19/20 year old first grader to play u/20s rep and risk his role with the first grade team?!

The more you think about the Brooks case the more ridiculous it gets. If he plays the whole season in NRL but we miss the top 8 would he be allowed to drop back to the 20s if they made the finals? I think not. But they want him for the 20's origin. Hypocrisy at its best.

I admire Potter being honest about this and not just pull the injury line aswell.

And they seem to be ignoring Lyon

He does it virtually SOO series without villification

During an interview several years ago, David Gallop explained that Lyon applied for and was given an exemption, partly due to him having represented for a few years when a youngster.

As far as Brooks goes, he would only be taking a backward step by playing last weekends junior game.

It is not rocket science Brooks is a first grader not a youth cup player should he play in NSW cup rep games also?
