Wests Tigers 2010 - Contenders or Pretenders?

We finally have the strongest squad since 2005-2006.

If we've made a change in the playing group and still fail to perform, then by process of elimination, the problem lies with the coach and a change there needs to be made.

I think the first few rounds will be a bit shakey having new faces in a lot of positions. Once we get past the first month other better be wary of us and be aware of the depth we now have.

We are definitely contenders. We need to halves combination to work though - really we can't afford any more than a few rounds to get something cranking.

Got the squad to beat any team in the comp. It will come down to which 17 Sheens selects each week which will decide whether the Wests Tigers are contenders or pretenders.

If they qualify for the finals, they'll be contenders. So the answer to this question will have to wait until sometime late in the season.

im not convinced, the side still looks similar to last years, and im not to happy about the new signings including lote hope to be proven wrong.GAINS: Tame Tupou (Bradford Bulls, ESL) Geoff Daniella (Penrith Panthers) Mitch Brown (Cronulla Sharks) Arana Taumata (Melbourne Storm) Mark Flanagan (Wigan Warriors, ESL) Junior Moors (Penrith Panthers) Jason Cayless (St Helens, ESL) Daniel Fitzhenry (Huddersfield, ESL) Liam Fulton (Huddersfield, ESL) .how many of these buys do you think will play first grade regularly ?

Immediately…

Fulton, Cayless, Lote

In time....

Moors, Tuamata and Brown

I think you're being a bit tough...

no , not those three, although i do think cayless will struggle with injury's throughout the year.and lets face it ,Lote hasn't played league in 7 years and is 30 years old…

On form the Tigers can beat any team in the comp. The bguestion mark this year is whether or not the Tigers can win on a consistent basis instead of having to win x number of games in a row to scrape into the 8\. If the Tigers can start winning the arm wrestle matches, then I reckon we're contenders.

I don't know if it's particularly the quality of the guys we have signed, even though there are some good ones in there. For me, it's more so the guys that we got rid of, that were limiting out options, which will make us a force.

Plus we have a great batch of juniors about to break into the grade.

We will make the 8 this year.

Contenders to win the comp however:

1\. Sheens needs to pick the right team - especially the problem positions of halfback and fullback. He has a bad records with regards to this.
2\. We need to get a decent run with injuries - especially to the key players (Benji & Robbie).

I think we can go real well this year - there are not many teams with as many quality players as we have. Benji, Robbie, Moltzen, Ellis, Galloway, Lawrence, Tuiaki & Tuqiri are all guns.

pretenders at the moment.

i need to see our props in action before i start feeling confident.

forget the sheens selections, forget who you want in the halves.

what we need is props who can step up if galloway is out with injury or simply taking a breather.
until i see it,i'm not going to acknowledge we are contenders.

if our props are consistent all year then i do believe the results will follow.
