Wests Tigers battling to roar in a disjointed venture

Here is another article on that website that could be the subject of a Wests Tigers Forum therapy session:

Pretty irresponsible journalism to simply spread incorrect information. It's going to be a Wests Tigers state cup team, not a Balmain one.

Suppose it depends on how you look at it Mac ,if it based on how many Wests 2012 NSW Cup players will be in the side compared to how many BRET players from 2012 he is right

Yoss ,I still don't understand why you need to take a pot shot at the journo ( and don't worry your not the only one)because what he has said is pretty well spot on

I'm taking a potshot at the quality of the article not the journalist. It's recycled news with vaguely attributed and opaque references to comments supposedly made by people in the know. Given the discussion is about the information contained in the article I don't think it is unreasonable to question the article itself. There are other threads discussing the "internal problems" at WT - the only thing different about this thread is the article it feeds off. Look at the sources he uses:

_news coming out of Tigers HQ
I had some recent conversations with some ardent Wests Tigers fans
From what I hear
One supporter told me
The Tigers folk I spoke with
One told me he and his family had bought a season ticket for 2013 but all expected to finish out of finals contention again, even with the addition of a new coach and a handful of new recruits._

But arent we more interested to talk issues regarding Wests Tigers and how we can improve with the improvement of some of these "issues" instead of performing a "character assasination" of the author.

Don't think we should be getting too worked up about an article written on The Roar. Isn't that a place where journos go when they can't get a real job?

I am sure that the article was actually written by someone doing work experience.

Isnt there a Tim Prentice doing sports reports on 9?
Looks diff to the bloke tho

Story? care factor 0

You have to agree he has a lot of the facts right though Ink and with our mental application issues and every else going on that it probably won't take too much to tip the apple cart over

It has been discussed in some detail. The OP **was** the article so I don't think it is unreasonable to discuss the merits of the article itself.
And once again, my criticism is of the article not the author…

Yoss , your still burying your head in the sand on this

What I'm asking is do you think this article has some merit in regards to the many of the point raised

The OP says "Wests Tigers battling to roar in a disjointed ventrue" Not what do you think about this article and journalist involved

It either has some merit or it doesn't Is it a hedge or some pickets you are sitting on ??

I agree yeh we have some issues and Im concerned we might be in for some lean years….still, change is happening and as long as I can see it for the positive I can be patient though reading me here you'd think not

It will take time...._<big>"Anything worthwhile is never easy"</big>_

More crap don't even bother reading these negative articles !

Snake take off the shades mate and look at the Tigers as you would a club you don't support

Isuues at the Tigers

Can't afford to pay Sheens out
Factions from both sides of JV aren't happy
Issues with Leichardt and its future
Issues with Balmain Leagues club and Rozelle
The Pro and Anti Sheens issues within the club
Unhappiness with the players and senior management how the Ryan and Rhino sitautions panned out

Take into account our players lack a lot of mental strength , we lack forward muscle and defensive grunt and have an unproven coach at NRL level and unproven 7 at NRL

As I said previously it won't take much for cracks to appear in our rosy but brittle facade

Nothing new there at all. Anyone on here could have written that same article. Makes you wonder why he even bothered.

I agree with Yoss in that his methodology of research was nothing short of rumour, gossip and perhaps fabrication.
I agree with Happy in that everything he says is quite possibly on the money.

Doesnt make this a good article however…we have heard all of this for the past 2 months now.

x2\. Slow news week as far as Rugby League is concerned, and given the Tigers have been one of the more public clubs with Sheens demise, Ryan and Heighno setting sail for the Shire and the merging of Balmain and Wests at State Cup level, well it makes it a bit easier for the more simple minded journos to re-hash old news.

I don't really see how any of those issues are of true concern.
- Factions from both sides of the JV will always be disagreeing/unhappy.
- As much as some of you may disagree on how WT is run, it is a professional business and they'll sort it out. Call me naive if you like but I don't think these issues will be stuff they push to the side especially during the off season.
- At least give Anasta a chance.
- we have gained a number of forwards and all will be more effective than Rhino and more depth than if we had injury prone Ellis (not to discredit either player).
- Leagues Club and LO are of some concern out of all this but neither will affect the club next year at least - still time to sort it out. As a Balmain rep said 'we always come up with the money, it's hard but we do.'
- I'm sure Potter has built a squad around teamwork and being competitive by the sounds of their training. This should quell whatever animosity remains about these 'dreadful' departures.
-Sheens is obviously still being sorted out or we are not informed as to what the situation is.
As I said earlier call me naive but I think by the time season starts the focus will be on results.

it's not an article, it's a forum post.
if you agree with it you agree with it if you don;t you don;t.
it adds no facts, no meaningful quotes and no actual substance.

It raises facts that the Tigers must cope with or get over in 2013 for the season to be a success both on and off field

Does GearZone sell these shades that everyone seems to be wearing that makes everyone oblivious to reality

Might come in handy in 2013

You are certainly a glass 1/2 empty man. With such negativity WT may as well sign off for 2013\. As WT fans we should be looking to embrace positive issues not looking at issues to bring the club down.

Newtown ,I don't think I'm a glass half empty person all the time

My issue if you read the whole thread is it gets a tedious when 20-30 people post that an article is crap because it doesn't tell us that we are premiership favourites and the greatest side in the history of the game and won't concede a point in 2013

The article poses issues that are clearly REAL issues that the Tigers will have to overcome in 2013 to be a force and I added a few other home truths

Its funny ,if this was another club (and we wouldn't have black, gold and white sunnies on ) we would look at it objectively

I want the Tigers to do well in 2013 Newtown , and if we do it will be a massive achievement by the club overcoming all these issues and our prior season performances with a new coach to boot :sign:
