Haha, I think we would all keep them for 400k each but they are on 550k now and want 800-1 mill for their next contracts

One thing that may have been missed in all of this ..the Stakeholders are no longer restricted in how much funds they can tip in for operational expenses..Under the previous constitution each stakeholder (Wests/Balmain) the could only provide funds equal to what the other could afford to cover the operational loss of the Wests Tigers..

Wests Ashfield now have control of that debt and have the financial muscle and means to provide what is needed…whoever they decide..

Seems the Balmain side of the JV was holding us back because they couldn't tip in.

Would you start a new long term coaches tenure with a first up flogging (or risk one) in a rush to appoint? Imagine the headline should it be a 40-0 flogging. "New coach fails badly first game" its uphill from there.
Statt fresh with an easier opponent, better chance of a win, look good.
Sure, good coaches take it in their stride, but good businesses should think for the whole organisation and protect the image.

A good coach would want to start next year instead of walking in off the street and straight into a game next week. Let Webster take the heat this year, (or JT) and get everything in place for next year.

There will be no pressure on Cleary from the club, the length of the contract if true would suggest that they see this year as a watershed year with Cleary to decide on the playing roster from 2018\. He gets a team that is sitting at the bottom of the table so if he gets them to 15 or 14 it would be an improvement. The only hate for him will come from fans and media.

14th or 15th will be going so far backwards from last year it's not even funny. And no, Cleary wouldn't get any heat from the club, but you just know there would be a section of brain dead supporters who would want to lynch him if he doesn't bring instant results.

I agree compared to last year it certainly would be a backward step given we still essentially have the same team. But Cleary won't and shouldn't get any heat from the board about this year. They decided on the timing. But I'm sure just like us they will expect to see some results this year.

And your right, some of us could turn on him. Heavens I might be one of those but if he gets the team playing good footy by the end of the year even if we don't make the 8 I will be happy, if he recruits well for next year then I will be happy. But at this stage he has me cheering for him.

Well offer them 400k and if they don't want it then tell them to get stuffed.

Once we get the money back from Robbie plus 1.1 million we will have close to 1.85 million to spend on quality halves and the rest of that money can be spent on upgrading the forward pack and buying 1-2 outside backs.

No worries GCT anytime…he is going to coach our team,have a look at the last couple of games,their certain to give Cleary a bad result with their poor defensive reads,poor handle and most of all their inept ability to tackle...as for' I cant wait;,its a manner of speaking,make of it what you like,I cant see him turning these players around in an instant...but you keep delving for a bite,it aint gunna happen....

Maybe not tomorrow but there's going to be plenty of bad results for a while.
It should be expected as Cleary hasn't had a training run with them, let alone a preseason

If Cleary does come in, hopefully he brings an entire coaching team with him. ISP cup and U20's are both going horribly this year.
