Ah well that due diligence and exploring all options was swift…thanks 5th Tackle whoever you are..

Ali's offsider, he used to work for the Lurker but was found to be unreliable.

I get that there is due diligence and appointing him only days after his predecessor was sacked could be perceived as a bad look, but it's fast becoming the games worst kept secret, and his son posting about it on Facebook, then quickly deleting it (silly kid) all but confirms it. So it will look silly if we delay an announcement for weeks. It would be awesome if he could be announced Monday morning. I would not be in a rush to have him take over from Webster this year though.Talk of him coaching against the Dragons is crazy. Surely he'd have to build a rapport with the squad before walking in off the street and leading the team. Least Webster has been here the whole off-season. It's bad enough when a coach is forced to adopt a playing roster with the whole pre-season to work with. We'd be asking him to coach someone else's side next week. And there will always be those fickle few who unfairly blame him for whatever failures the team has for the rest of the year. It just makes sense to let him work behind the scenes, getting everything in place so he can take over in November.

It seems as though 5thtackle.com has a bad rep. I tried submitting the article to Reddit and the submission was automatically removed.

This was the message:

"The website you linked to has a bad reputation for writing articles on baseless rumours or stealing articles from other websites.
If you can find the same story on a more reputable site feel free to post that instead."

I'm wondering where this leaves Taylor's assistants for this season. Is Cleary going to be able to bring in his own team straight away or would it be too disruptive given what has already happened? You'd think that Cleary would want to bring in his own team, just makes you wonder when and how it will transpire.

As for Cleary….Would you take over as coach and get flogged by the storm first week? Why would you do that?

Good coaches don't think like this

Of course they dont, but good businesses do.
Would you start a new long term coaches tenure with a first up flogging (or risk one) in a rush to appoint? Imagine the headline should it be a 40-0 flogging. "New coach fails badly first game" its uphill from there.
Statt fresh with an easier opponent, better chance of a win, look good.
Sure, good coaches take it in their stride, but good businesses should think for the whole organisation and protect the image.

A good coach would want to start next year instead of walking in off the street and straight into a game next week. Let Webster take the heat this year, (or JT) and get everything in place for next year.

Going on our recent track record I would say we will beat Melbourne and lose to the Dragons.

There will be no pressure on Cleary from the club, the length of the contract if true would suggest that they see this year as a watershed year with Cleary to decide on the playing roster from 2018\. He gets a team that is sitting at the bottom of the table so if he gets them to 15 or 14 it would be an improvement. The only hate for him will come from fans and media.

14th or 15th will be going so far backwards from last year it's not even funny. And no, Cleary wouldn't get any heat from the club, but you just know there would be a section of brain dead supporters who would want to lynch him if he doesn't bring instant results.

so if Cleary has been given full control over recruitment and player contracts, what our man Kelly Egan have to do ????

With the JT sacking have not heard anything from or Egan. I know Pascoe rightly so wanted to take ownership of the whole thing, but still surprised Egan seems to have gone underground

WESTS TIGERS SACK INCOMING COACH IVAN CLEARY
\
\
IVAN ADMITS HE WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE HAD THE CHANCE TO FALL OUT WITH THE CLUB IN HIS OWN TIME.

The Wests Tigers board have moved against their newly-appointed coach Ivan Cleary, sacking him on his first day in the job.

Cleary was appointed to the role late last night but was asked to pack up his desk only an hour after stocking that same desk with all of his things.

Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe didn’t hold back his disappointment regarding Clearly when interviewed a short time ago.

“We just didn’t feel as though he (Cleary) was going to win us any games and we aren’t prepared to let this club drift and be unsuccessful,” Mr Pascoe said.

When asked why the club’s board bothered to appoint Cleary if they were just going to sack him anyway, the CEO appeared remorseful.

“That’s what makes this so difficult,” he said.

Cleary’s record at the Tigers is set to remain 0-0, ironically the best winning percentage of his coaching career.

The Tigers say they will have further news on which coach they plan to sack next by early April.

It seems part of the job that we never see him. We never saw Moss, and the only time I saw buckets was when I met him at a training session last season.

Just got a feeling Ivan may have been coaching this team from his loungeroom chair for a while. If he is ready to walk in now and take over says to me he feels he can make some inroads with the current squad and salvage something from the season.
He also will need to build a rapport with the halves, Teddy and Woods so that he can make informed decisions about the value of re-signing any, or all of them with the club. How they respond will help him make that decision

I think its a confident approach and the sooner it happens the better .

I cant wait for the time Cleary has a bad result and the fans and supporters light the forum up like the Sydney Opera House ..with… Cleary cant coach, poor decision, should have kept Taylor longer, our salary cap isn't right yet,we need to find backrowers and centres, the clubs admin are a rabble, etc etc etc....
but don't forget this group of the big four..Brooks and Moses should be the first Cleary puts on notice...
for the rest of us we need to aquire some patience and lets sees what transpires from here in....

While it is now a business… No one at the club should be dreading another flogging, they should be thinking positively on field results can be improved and turned around... The alternative shouldn't enter their minds, fear holding us back... Don't be afraid to take that first step.. A weeks a long time and besides, would a flogging at the hands Melbourne be such a shock to anyone if it did eventuate?

It's the best appointment we could have made.
Thats not to mean he will be a success.
Coaches have been a graveyard for Wests Tigers.
However Lets give him a chance.
Ivan has walked into a better situation then Taylor and Potter. In terms of control over the roster.
However I can't see him turning this season around dramatically. We just have zero depth.

Cleary will be judged on his performance just like the players are TT. You never let the halves escape when they have a poor performance and your not alone. A poor team performance is the responsibilty of coach and players just like the wins are also owned by both.
I think everybody would like to see an harmonious relationship between coach and players built on mutual respect. Im hoping Cleary will bring that along with addressing the glaring deficiencies in our game. I also feel that he will be able to attract players to our team based on his coaching history and his professionalism.
I think his (proposed )appointment is the most positive action made by the club for as long as I can remember and the sooner he starts the better.
Not expecting miracles and can guarantee I will never be saying we should have kept Taylor regardless of results.

Like any new coach Cleary will get probably 12 months grace before the knives start to appear and rightly so
