Wests Tigers Centre of Excellence

In the CEO/Coach interviews last year you could tell both were serious and passionate about making it happen.

Will be the best thing to happen for the club since 05.

Just kidding fellow forumers ….this is the best news we have had for a very long time and I personally hope it comes to fruitition and not just be a promise that never eventuates....

Reallistically the Wests Tigers need a great confidence booster from admin to on field performances.....this will inject that enthusiasm that we require to recruit top class players and develop juniors so as we will be a realistic NRL force to reckon with for many, many years to come...

Yep, 30 million dollar facility near the city, definitely appealing for players

Wow!! Great news.

I wonder how much of this will go towards oval refurb and how much towards the COE.

Really makes the state govt contribution look weak!!

Well done Canada Bay council

Like to think it is true - I know we applied for x amount to build the C of E - this is a lot more than asked for. If it is true the extra could be put to very good use.

We could Update Lichhardt and the team GYM.

And hire Royce on a short term contract to source out new hi tech witches hats.

I’m currently working on a Drone System that drops and moves witches hats on the fly.
Just about to email it to Roycey so he can do it from his iPad from the sideline. Or from bed on cold mornings.

I would also like to install HD cameras on top of the goalposts and around the ground so coaches could set up drills and plays for the WTs against a Vertual Reality team from a bunker.

Will this new COE have a plodders section ?

Once you catch that black panther , it will be part of the training for the plodders , you run faster or you become the menu

I believe they are casting a statue of MCK outside the Plodders section , getting bumped off by a 80 kg winger

Or even better still than lame attempted tackle against Parra that lost us the game and our Top 8 chances

Can someone please explain what the centre of excellence is don’t quite get it and also what we do with that money we supposedly get? Cheers

Looks like this thing is finally gunna happen…differing $$$ amounts though make me wonder

Some money from Council, some money from State/elsewhere?

Yeah was something like $58 mil from NSW gov, possibly up to 100 mil if other conditions are met, now $30 mil from local council and something like $10 mil from the PCYC.

It's not just a centre for our boys to train, there'll be a range of other sporting arenas, and areas for youth development and education programs etc.

Really this thread should be merged with the original one so all the information and context is in the one thread. Mods?

From today's Inner West Courier;

"Canada Bay Council has released budget plans which includes $30 million for the redevelopment of Concord Oval."

With Ivan and Pascoe so passionate about COE its funding annoucement could sway Ivan into a new contract hopefully with the bonus of Nathan to come over.

Apparently we are getting $58 million?
Great news if true.

Re last paragraph

I will believe it when we get it and not before
[/quo

Same here, its sort of like " we have heaps of potential" Heard it all before.
Tell me when it's halfway built.
Even then , Id still have doubts.

Basically it's facilities, however you might want that to look. Typically all of your training and admin needs brought together in one location, all modernised. Considering Concord Oval is over 40 years old, it tells you a lot about what can be done to revamp the site.

I don't believe the CoE has formalised plans yet, so roughly speaking I guess some combination of - office and retail space, meeting and video / conference rooms, gymnasiums, pool, physio and medical facilities, canteen. You have to make some significant percentage of it public-access to validate the council / government funding.

Given that Tigers are personally bringing in funding, I'd imagine they will have a large say in the design. But also they will need to consult with West Harbour, the soccer and hockey clubs to meet their needs as well.
