Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire and prop Russell Packer are no longer speaking to each other,

interesting and disappointing if true, if Russell pulled his finger out and played like he did at the beginning of last year, maybe he wouldn't be on the outer??

Madge will Burn and Churn this team and build for the long term. If players improve he will back them if they sink like Packer, ET, Reynolds, Mahe etc they will not be playing.

Until we "do a Souths" on him.

I'm all for tough coaches but eventually you step on enough toes the players revolt. Luckily for Tigers, right at this moment, we haven't got any players good enough to be worried about them leaving.

typical attitude of someone who has sat in a few prison yards in his time...looking for the entitled handout.....
If he was working hard and things still didn't work out then fine, but it seems he is taking the high road and doesn't realise how this looks for him if he wants further professional football employment....

What we shoulda done is dug our heels in with cleary and told him you signed them you coach them. You can leave when your contracts finished and we would have been no worse off. Now we have a premiership winning coach and a dud coaches roster.

In fairness, that is career suicide for Pascoe and the board to demand that. Cleary would have driven the place into the ground, the players would not have put in for him and ultimately the fans would riot.

Whilst agreeing with you, there is something there in NT Tiger's post that has some merit. What can the NRL do when club coaches recruit players that suit them but then the coach leaves on bad terms soon after recruitment. The club is left in the lurch and the player/s and incoming coach are behind the eight ball from the start.

This is more than WT and has happened every so often in the past to other clubs. In some political scenarios the ministers / cabinet members resign and allow the Prime Minister the opportunity to be rid of people they dont want. Maybe this could work for NRL i.e the contract is somewhat in the responsible reign of the coach not just the club. Coach goes, the contracts are up for review and have a small window of the player / club being able to test the market.

Packer’s football career is finished, if he spends the next 2 years in Reggies, or continues to carry no like a petulant brat.

He's at the backend of his career as it is, he'e be unlikely to jag another contract after this one even if he didn't spit the dummy.

@2005magic not a bad idea mate
Thought about emailing Greenhouse?

It would have to come from Politis to even get Greenburg to open the email. The NRL as a whole is crying out for reform on so many fronts but nothing is happening under his watch.

Can’t wait until some form of revolt sees fans single-handedly prize his little tiara and CEO pen away from him, as he’s carried out of NRL HQ to be publicly lynched. He is honestly no worse than Packer to be fair... Both imposters

Except 1 did one thing and served his time can anybody tell the difference? A la many things with a criminal conscience, suffering no form of justice and clearly not changing? Not only that but stating he has no intentions of creating consistency within our game...

Poo happens in the heat of the moment

Can still remember as a 17 year old at Ipswich in Colts having a full on screaming match with Uncle Dud Beattie when he came into the dressing room at HT to give us a serve about our first half against a bottom side

How do we know he's carrying on like a brat?

@GNR4LIFE Talking about Brats, Wt has certainly had its fair share of them in recent times. Moses and Farah lead the charge.

The way the ex fake captain threw the club under the bus on his way out, I wouldn't leave him out either.

I wonder if the club can use the excuse Mitchell Moses used to finally force the club to release him, except this time coming from the club not his manager? "We are concerned over his mental health if he stays at the club?" RLPA were all concerned over Moses, NRL came out in support with concern for his mental health. Can the club use the same argument to break deadlock?

@OzLuke Do you honestly think that Packer cares?
This is the contract that he's waited for all his NRL career.

At the Warriors and Dragons very ordinary money, Cleary offers him 4 years at 650k he has a signed contract and couldn't give a stuff. And I don't totally blame him.

I posted the other day I think Maguire behaviour the last few rounds has been erratic. Maguire had Packer playing off the bench at the start of the season and he was adding something to the teams performance each week, puts him back in the starting side and he becomes RS.

Am I the only one the world who can see what's happened to Packer's NRL career, since he lost a ton of weight and became educated he has never been the same player, I want the, "Old Russ", back when he was a fat thug came off the bench for 20 to 30 minutes and put the fear of God in the opposition.
