Makes sense. Quite a few of the Flegg boys from last year will be in cup and having him continue their development is a smart move

Yep and as long as the processes and development is in line with the 1st grade squad to make it easier for them to make the next steps up the ladder ...that is a good move

Wow Lambkin to NSW cup is quite a development. I wonder if he's still the Westfield Sports High coach also? I believe he was still engaged in that role while he was our Flegg coach. Think he's been the coach there for 20 years if his LinkedIn is accurate so getting a step up to coaching seniors seems like quite a long time coming. He's coached a LOT of good players over his time in that role so having him at our club is a pretty good thing I'd say. So far so good given he's undefeated as a coach at WT.

It certainly lifts the spirits in the joint that two internal coaching appointments are being filled from within based on merit.

This is where Sheens imo can make a huge difference by implementing a consistent brand of football across all the grades.

Wests Tigers duo Brandon Tumeth and Justin Matamua will have the chance to learn off some of the best minds in rugby league after being selected to join next month’s Emerging Blues camp.

Balmain junior Tumeth and Wests junior Matamua have been standouts over the past couple of seasons and have been rewarded for their excellence.

The two-day camp at the NSWRL Centre of Excellence in Olympic Park will see some of the best young talent come together for a range of different workshops.

The camp will be run by NSW State of Origin coach Brad Fittler and his assistants Paul McGregor and Danny Buderus.

Blues legnends Andrew Johns and Boyd Cordner will also be involved as well as State of Origin high performance and medical staff.

In addition to the Emerging Blues camp, Tumeth and Matamua will have an opportunity to take their games to new levels as they train with the Wests Tigers NRL squad this pre-season.

two local juniors that will be imperative to our long-term success. congrats lads, rip in!

Anyone know if Corey Thomas is still with the club? Was Langer Cup player of the year in 2020 and then only played a few games last year of SG Ball due to injury.

Don't know, he hasn't been named in any grade all season. He was named in the Flegg squad last November. Obviously there's very little coverage of our junior sides so who knows, maybe he had an ACL last year and is still coming back from it

Yeah could be still coming back from an injury.... too much guess work is needed with players in the Flegg and Cup teams. Eg. Kautoga has a blinder last week and now nowhere to be seen in the team list. I know most supporters probably aren't concerned with the lower grades, but the die hards would like even just a short update each week to keep us in the loop.

Looks like we've also signed young English prop Femi Sanya. Big but raw, likes a big hit, was apparently offered to a few clubs. A few of our Flegg boys have followed and posted about him on insta, and he now follows WT too.

Wonder whether no one else was interested or if we outbid everyone else.

England u16 and u18 prop
