Wests Tigers are pleased to confirm the club’s Knock-On NSW Cup squad for 2022, with Wayne Lambkin named as coach for the upcoming season.

Lambkin — the club’s former Jersey Flegg coach — will oversee the reserve grade side, which will wear the Western Suburbs Magpies colours again in 2022.

After a strong season that saw the team second on the ladder when the competition was halted in 2021, the Magpies will be hoping for another impressive campaign with a number of new local juniors promoted to the squad.

Nine of the NSW Cup squad members are on NRL train-and-trial deals and are currently training with the NRL squad for pre-season.

2021 Jersey Flegg Player of the Year Rua Ngatikaura has been promoted to the reserve grade squad, alongside Wests Tigers juniors Ben Stevanovic, Logen Dillion and Liam Scolari.

After making his NRL debut in 2021, Junior Pauga has been included in the squad, and will play alongside the likes of Israel Ogden, Edenn Rogers-Smith and Tom Freebairn.

2022 NSW Cup squad
NRL train-and-trial players: Ben Stevanovic, Billy Stapleton, Christian Ma’anaima, Iversoon Fuatimau, Junior Pauga, Liam Scolari, Logen Dillion, Rua Ngatikaura, Tom Freebairn.

NSW Cup contracts: Jimmy Ngutlik, Israel Ogden, Joseph Tapauri, Aden Perry, Edenn Rogers-Smith, Atitasi James, Sione Tupou, Felix Smith.

Extended squad: D’Rhys Miller, Kel O’Brien, Mateo Tatola.

stoked Izzy Ogden is there, but wish he was a listed NRL T&T player. imo he'd be pushing hard for a starting spot given our lack of centres to begin the season.

So happy to see Israel Ogden among the squad.

Agreed! A chance to lock down that NSW Cup centre position and really make his case for an upgraded contract either later in 2022 or 2023.

Good to see Jimmy Ngutlik get another crack. Basically moved down last year and then COVID/lockdown hit. He has some good wraps on him.

Anyone got any knowledge on Atitasi James?

There must be something doing with Ogden off field? He had a development contract at the Warriors then came to us purely on a Flegg deal. Now despite his immense talent all he has been able to secure next year is a nsw cup deal

Im stoked that ogden is there

Its weird igs a cup contract ..
Maybe 2023 🤑🤑

Credit to the comms team on how this was written. They made special mention of all the players the forum had been wondering about. Israel, Edenn and the train and trial players… Anyone know why Tannous isn’t on the list? Is he Flegg eligible?

He is a lock from the eels played 3 or 4 games last year

Strange that we have 3 second rowers on development contracts, particularly when we have secured Pa'palli for 2023.

Yep he’s 19 this year, so still Flegg eligible for two more years.

All these different types of contracts are confusing… What contract is Fonua Pole on?

Pole is on a Jersey Flegg contract, he’s still eligible for Flegg for another 2 years.

Same as Tannous, they’re both 19 this year.

Pole can step off both feet and looks like a centre three quarter. He's a very fine player and a good find for WTs.

Mateo Tatola back at the Club. He is Junior's younger brother and had a very good junior rep record. He joined the Bulldogs from Balmain so it is good to see another junior back at the Club.
