Wests Tigers have today confirmed the Club’s coaching staff for the 2016 season.

Following the 2015 season Wests Tigers conducted a thorough review of the Football Department with a number of new staff to join the Club.

The Club will again be led by Head Coach Jason Taylor who joined Wests Tigers ahead of the 2015 season.

Taylor will be joined by NRL Assistant Coaches David Kidwell and Craig Sandercock.

Kidwell has been a part of the Wests Tigers coaching staff since the beginning of the 2014\. Sandercock joins Wests Tigers from the Newcastle Knights, where he was an NRL Assistant Coach. Between 2012 and 2014 Sandercock was Head Coach of Hull KR in the Super League and for the two years before heading to England was on the coaching staff of Newcastle.

Wests Tigers’ Physical Performance Department will be headed up by Marcus Kain who is entering his second season at the Club. Kain will be joined by new Strength and Conditioning Coach Chris Dorman who has spent the last five years as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Fremantle Dockers.

Also joining the Club is Alex Kertesz who will take on the role of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, Kertesz joins Wests Tigers having been a part of the NSW Waratahs staff since 2012.

Blake McLean will continue to head up the Club’s Sports Science program.

Joining Wests Tigers as new Holden Cup Head Coach is Willie Peters.

Most recently Peters has been SG Ball Coach for the South Sydney Rabbitohs and has a professional playing career of over 140 games.

Paul Stringer will take on the Head Coaching role of Wests Tigers’ NSW Cup side, having been Holden Cup Assistant Coach in 2014.

Before embarking on a coaching career Stringer player over 140 NRL games.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said that the changes to the Club’s coaching staff were made following a rigorous review process.

“Following the 2015 season we conducted a full review of our coaching structure, the same way that we did with our playing group,” said Pascoe. “As a result of that we have made a number of positive changes to our coaching staff for the 2016 season.

“The Club and Jason have made these changes in order to get the most out of our playing group both on and off the field,” he said.

Wests Tigers’ NRL squad will begin pre-season training in early November.

 Apparently all Newie wins = Sandercock Losses = Stone/Beddsey…so wee got the best...

Thank you Chris for posting the official article...seems the Club/Taylor undertook a review and made changes....go figure....

The club has appointed a current assistant at Newcastle and a bloke who has recently spent 3 years as a head coach in Super League I would say that is a strong appointment so well done and also kills that line about Taylor not being willing to have blokes who could coach FG by his side given he has reappointed kidwell and brought in Sandercock. Often after a season clubs change assistants even Wayne Bennett has changed assistants at times but especially when it was a rush to get everything in place last year and they have seen what works and what doesn't.

The S&C guys did a great job last year so good to see that stay fairly consistent

Could be good moves or bad moves. I will give you that the strength and conditioning improved massively last year.

I am being honest I have never heard of Craig Sandercock and I doubt a 40% win record at Hull KR (who won nothing in his time their) has first grade NRL sides beating down his door to make him head coach, I don't even think his current club Newcastle even considered him for their own job. Would hardly say it is an appointment that would have Jason Taylor worried that he could take his job. Now if he had of appointed Anthony Griffin as assistant coach it would be another story. In that case after some bad forms fans would be saying the assistant could do a better job rather than someone we have never heard of.

The strength and condition team has some quality names there with a very wide industry experience.

I'm nervous with JT's side kicks, it's a large change and no doubt we will have a change in approach as well.

I think the appointment of someone involved with our NYC team moves into the Holden Cup role, he will know a lot of the kids and should provide some continuity for those kids development next year.

Is JT acting more like the General Manager rather than a coach ?

Anthony Griffin hahahahaha you mean the same bloke who took the Broncos the richest team in the league with a whole city to pick from to 12th and 8th and then saw Wayne Bennett take them to 2 seconds off a premiership. I'm not saying Sandercock is the next coaching star but he is a former head coach from super League who did a solid job with a crap club over their.

Wait- I'm confused…

Is sacking all last season's assistants a sign that Taylor is losing the plot, or Farah is winning a power struggle?

I can't keep up...

I can't see a problem with any of the appointments there.

However, if you CAN find an issue in hiring a former Head Coach, who also has experience as an assistant at NRL level, then I'd suggest you are LOOKING for issues.

Actually maybe you are right about Anthony Griffin, if he had of appointed Geoff Toovey as assistant coach I would have been impressed (he has a great record) and would be a far better coach than Jason Taylor.

Some people on this forum would complain if JC was appointed coach. I can only imagine what would have been said if we had employed Green. Wow!

Is this correct?
