Wests Tigers Confirm Coaching Staff For 2016

The club has appointed a current assistant at Newcastle and a bloke who has recently spent 3 years as a head coach in Super League I would say that is a strong appointment so well done and also kills that line about Taylor not being willing to have blokes who could coach FG by his side given he has reappointed kidwell and brought in Sandercock. Often after a season clubs change assistants even Wayne Bennett has changed assistants at times but especially when it was a rush to get everything in place last year and they have seen what works and what doesn't.

The S&C guys did a great job last year so good to see that stay fairly consistent

Please, if you are still awestruck by JT and his wonder year then maybe I can see it, but please JT has picked 2 blokes who are no threat to his job, and kept Kidwell, this is not an upgrade on last year and at least saves his job being taken from someone within the club.

So the main pre-requisite for an NRL assistant coaching position at WTS is ….according to 851, is to be a threat to the main coach

Right.

Seriously

I think the conspiracy theorists regarding JTs assistant choices being tantamount to picking a group of incompetents so they don't threaten him are probably a little off the mark. If they don't perform, our teams won't perform and Pressure increases on JT.

In saying that, none of them (including JT) appear to be top-shelf coaches.

I am hoping though we have "diamond in the rough Marty Tapau type" amongst them.

The club is doing its best to improve itself on and off the field and here we are with a coaching restructure and still people want to whinge and moan. I'd hate to see the disappointment on some people's faces when they open their christmas presents and don't get what they want.

A Kevin "Bloody" Wilson song comes to mind willow.

That's one way of thinking about it. Another is to ask what makes all these recently employed coaches who were judged to be good appointments just 12 months ago so fundamentally wrong for their respective positions just one year later? On one hand the need for change after such a bad year is positive but on the other hand the evident and abject failure to select a suitable support staff to facilitate success in the first place doesnt say much for the judgment of whoever it was that appointed these people in the first place.

Everyone and his dog has been kicking Kimmorley and Reddy on this forum. Now they are both gone crocodile tears appear. The reserve grade coach really had to go as well.

Most people agree that the new trainers etc. have been a great success. So what is the problem?

I know a lot of persons on this forum support JT for the sake of stability though someone forgot to show JT the script, I just don't see how the Stalinist methodology will promote stability and unity?

JT's decision making process is based on impulse and emotions.

In the end this will end with tears, history will show that the current board and JT as the worse thing to happen to the Tigers in its current format.

JT is an opportunist and nothing else, fancy showing his face around here after leaving the maggies as a player years back based on $$ yet blaming the coach for leaving due to the that coaches "restrictive" game plan.

JT has no honour, no heart and no brains. He definitely doesn't deserve his current role at the Tigers.

Having lived in England the last few years I watched the super league quite regularly and was never impressed with sandercock in his press conferences after hull kr games. Very laid back and didn't come across as someone the playing group would respond to. But I hope he fits in and wish him good luck

no more excuses left for anyone in the club now.

board's had a year to sort out the salary cap
JT's had a chance to get his own roster
players have got some experience
nrl's assisted balmain to put some money on the table

accountability starts now.

No, many are reserving judgement of JT because he has been at the helm for just 12 months and deserves a fair go, it’s the absolute hatred of the man, agenda pushing and club bashing from a few that many find hard to digest.

I personally find the name calling very low.

Obviously your hatred stems from something from over 20 years ago, really just let it go

12 months was more than enough time to prove Taylor is not an NRL coach. Despite the best efforts of his spin team, I believe by Round 6 next year the Board should be hiring a new coach.

I don't know anything about Sandercock, but I have heard a few good coaches over the years talk about the benefit of having a "easy-going" assistant coach. Someone a player can talk openly with and approach after the head coach has given them a bollocking.

I think Taylor and Farah would both need thick skins to deal with some of the stuff written about them by fans on this forum. Funnily enough dont think either do - both reactionary in character and hence the reason why they both suffer the consequences. Dont doubt for a moment though that both want the same thing and that's for Wests Tigers to win more games. They do that together next year and then the fans will let it go - if not more of the same.

Couldn't agree more Tbone. Well said.

Taylor left the Magpies after Warren Ryan sacked him as half because he (Taylor) was too slow. He replaced him with a winger, whose name escapes me at present and that was also a failure. Taylor was always an organising half and Ryan wanted a running half. He left so he could play his natural game.

How would you know that Taylor's decision making process is based on impulse and emotions? Whilst it may seem that way to you, others would see it differently BUT none of us really knows enough to make such a bald statement.

What exactly is this "Stalinist methodology" you speak of? Stalin was responsible for the deaths of millions of people but as far as I know JT hasn't yet sent out the death squad. You may be right about all this ending in tears but one year into his tenure is too early to tell. I'm quietly confident that he will bring success as the club moves into 2017 but I don't make that statement as a prediction.

Making statements like these as though they are factual is just a tad outrageous.
