Wests Tigers confirm Jason Taylor as new coach

Taylor is still under contract with Easts, however a spokesman ( I did not quite catch the name) stated that "he ( Taylor ) is so good that the WT's would have been mad not to sign him"

Clubs don't generally stand in the way of an assistant coach when a FG position comes up.

Most would have a get out of jail clause in their contract and the ones who dont probably do not have aspirations to be a head coach

Taylor will be an excellent mentor for Brooks and Mosses….he was a very smart halfback in his day.!

Ricky Stuart was an even smarter halfback.

Look what he does to halfbacks.

I'm not saying that Taylor will be bad, rather that you shouldn't just blindly make that assumption.

Please. If you do not have anything positive to say, do not say anything. You would find fault if JC himself was appointed coach.

Why do you follow Weststigers if the only thing you can do is bag everything about them.

Let us all get behind our new coach and football manager, for at least the first season.

Sorry for using facts princess.

I will say what I want, when and where I want. If you don't like it, I don't care. That's your problem, you deal with it.

I don't bag everything about them. I've been actively defending Farah in here and some of the other players when many of you are hating them despite being too stupid to realise the value they provide.

I'm sorry I demand the club I support to be run professionally and successfully.

Perhaps I should lower my standards like you do and just be happy that they exist.

Seriously madunit you give Mayer no chance. This could of come from Taylor or anybodyyyyyyyyyyy associated with taylor. Also whats the damage in this "leak".Maybe it was "leaked" so some positive news and possible sponsors can come our way.Give the guy a chance.

Nothing about a leak is ever positive.

It shows a lack of discipline and integrity by someone within the inner sanctum of the club. Who knows what sort of sensitive info they are blabbing and who too, not just the media.

It's an abysmal act, bordering on betrayal of the club and should be stamped out if we are serious about being a professional business and professional club that values its integrity.

Integrity and Professionalism are the two utmost important things a sponsor looks for when deciding to pour big bucks into a club.

It is no surprise that we have to keep pleading with Harry to stay on as our main sponsor.

Who are you to demand anything from anybody?

You can't even control what comes out of your mouth. Get over yourself.

I don't buy into the theory that just because a coach was a halfback that it is good for the halves. Any coach worth their salt should know how to coach his halves, not just coaches who played in those positions when they were a player.

So very true, just like you do not have to be a great x player to be a good coach, in fact the trend today is the opposite.

The head coach over sees the whole operations and if the halves need special attention he can always contract in a specialist

But you can have stronger qualities than others?

I think he's been working with the roosters halves lately and they hit some good form over the past couple of months.

Missing the point. It's different with Taylor because he wasnt naturally blessed, he had to work very hard on his game. He would know better than anyone how to improve aspects of a half backs game

I really cannot fathom why Griffin was overlooked by an assistant coach ?

I get the St Gregory connection.I get he played for the Magpies.I get he was under a rooster squad that won minor premierships but I am at a loss.

Surely we needed A coach who has no connection and although Potter was one he just never had the support he deserved from the squad or GM.

Just seems like were going backwards and creating more animosity between ourselves.

I suppose we are a joke to other supporters for paying coaches for sitting at home it is just a joke.Only good thing is that Mayer is replaced as he hasn't had a hit since Heartbreak Warfare.

Wests Tigers needed a fresh start and we have let another good thing pass in Griffin,Im all NSW always have been but it just seemed the right time and I am amazed we are treading down the old path once again.

I like what I heard form Taylor in the interview on Triple MMM.
I hope he can bring the winning culture over form the Roosters.

I will not judge him until the seasons end as actions and results always speak louder than words and opinion.
Good luck to him and I hope the board backs him and he gets the support he needs.

Be positive. The guy can definitely coach.Im sure he would of done better than Griffin at the broncos with their players too.

Your world famous leak regarding Taylor which was was received by the telegraph 2 minutes before Wests Tigers received an email stating both Taylor and… Moss were signed forces you to write the dribble you wrote above re integrity and professionalism but in the next breath you say how much you love Robbie Farah and how important he is to the club. How would you describe Robbies "Integrity and professionalism off the field re leaks this last year????Very interested in your answer Madunit.Another one who seems to support Robbie Farah first and the Wests Tigers a very distant second.

@GNR4life,I agree with you on coaching and although NRL is the big time most coaches know and understand the entire positions of each team from prop through to fullback, hence the team is being coached by Taylor not just the halves…ok if he needs to help a certain player in a position in defence or attack he has assistance's to help...could you imagine if each position had an individual coach.
The costs would be astronomical .... :sign:

Bang on KS. And this is why we'll see a naturally talented halves pairing go to a new level under him.

I remember watching Taylor come through the grades. He was always small, but he was a great footballer. I think people forget how good he was! He will only bring good things to Brooks and Moses and Austen.

Mick Potter and Jason Taylor were extremely similar as players Both weren't the best running around but worked their butts off to get every inch of talent out they had

JT could be the best person to work on Austin and his passing game as well

That could be a major blessing in disguise if Austin stays

I would hope the tough decisions that Potter didn't make re Lawrence,Galloway,Sirro,Simona,Gavet and Sue re bad form and needed to be dropped are made early if needed not like this year.
And Farah is told his position and job description early,so he knows where he stands, and things will be fine.

Why isnt there anything on the official Wests Tigers web page about Taylor being appointed yet? You would have thought that they would have posted some kind of video of an in house interview with him dressed in tigers colors by now, surely!
