Thought it was an interesting read and hopefully something actually gets done about it (unlikely though, I know). Couldn't see it but sorry if it's already on here.

Mayer might as well have thrown in hands in the air and said ''we're no chance of signing him without the NRL's help''. Why didn't he say this when he was negotiating with Farah and Woods?

Not looking good imo.

Gnr, to me it sounds more as though we will struggle to keep them all… having so many of them come off contract at the same time wont make this at all pretty, but i guarantee that knowing this well in advance that we arent as unprepared financially as the dooms sayers are making out. On the other hand I doubt we were prepared for the current crop to all be as good as they have turned out to be either.

As someone who watched Boyd Brown Dorahy and Raudonikus walk out the door in one off season at Wests all I can say is that this is the way it always has been and most likely always will be. The answer is not in trying to constrain the predators but to shore up the revenue side of the business so as to be able to match the financial competition.

As for Tedesco I have little doubt that a competing bid would have to be well above ours for him to walk.

Its sounds like he's bitching and moaning that the dogs are a better run club than us. Your probably in a position to do something about that Mayer, or is it the non-members fault.

Offload Blair and Lawrence to the Sharks, save 200k (we pay everything but 100k on both players) for the next 2 years. That's 66k more for Nofoaluma, Sironen and Tedesco per year which can be the difference. Let Koroibete walk.

That doesn't seem to phase a team like the Dogs does it. I'm not usually one to whinge about how other teams manage their cap but goddamn, Fifita signed for something close to a mil a yr, then signed the Sharks hooker, re-signed Graham and Morris and now are talking about Ennis. And thats not even including the money T-Rex is on.

If we can't keep em all, how the hell can they?

Spot on Pymble…

If we continue to get our act together on the field, sponsorship should very well mirror our successes on the park and put us in a much better financial position.

I was reading an old article the other day about Benji and Trigbouff, and remember reading a line where harry stated he used to flick the players a grand each after a win, which was ceased when the salary cap was bought in. Because he is a sponsor it is a conflict of interest making private player payments outside of the cap, perfectly fine if they are declared within the cap. If he wasnt a sponsor or involved with the club on the other hand it would be legit (barring a few conditions), ala the "Thoroughbreds". If only we could garner another major sponsor, and sweet talk Harry into being a silent top up to keep us in line with the other financially savy clubs...

We COULD do that B&W but dont you agree with Mayer that its much easier just to [This word has been automatically removed] to the papers about clubs being better run than us.

we're 50/50 on signing him imo. No one knows atm, not even teddy.

the club's trying their best, and even if he doesnt stay i'll know we've at least given it our best shot

seems as though this is related to tedesco, but the inclusion of other clubs like the raiders in this proclamation that we will walk seems bigger than just one player to be honest.

Of course the dogs are a better run club, in fact most are better than Wests Tigers.

I think we can edge out the other two basket cases Parramatta and Cronulla and win the wooden spoon with regards to running of a club.

Got a feeling if he re-signs he'll do his knee again down the line, and if signs elsewhere he'll never have another knee problem again.

The irony of it all is that it's looking increasingly likely that our fullback for next year is going to be a guy coming back from an ACL injury.

No way. Complete idiocy if true. I think its wise that people detach themselves from Tedesco and hope the club wrap up Nofoaluma and groom him as the fullback in 2015\. I reckon he could make an awesome fullback.

Agree on Nofoaluma.

But I just did some snooping and the Roosters rumour looks to be baseless. The Dogs are definitely chasing someone but I really think they'll be priced out on Tedesco. Haven't heard of another club. Maybe RU is the swooper if what HT says about him knocking back our offer is true?

I actually think that Nofoaluma is a bigger danger of being sniped. He'd cost half as much and the Roosters in particular need wingers. They'll be taking Koroibete or Nofoaluma you would think…

Even if both the Dogs and Roosters drop out of the running, im sure another club will rear their ugly heads. Koroibete has to go, and they have to for the love of god try and shop Lawrence around to another club.

I'm not so sure about getting rid of Koroibete? Yes he has defensive issues doesn't stay in his man I understand that but he will learn is only 21 & has blinding speed.
