Not having seen any Toyota Cup, there are some very well deserved winners for First Grade there.

How can Woods be the player of the year but not the forward of the year?

Just the way it works. Happened to me when I used to play. Something to do with sharing and rewarding hard work. Encouraging I guess. No point having best back/forward then

I know this is probably the obvious statement of the year, but catching up with Beau, the guy bleeds our club. Genuinely does not want to be anywhere else, had a real emptiness about him. Chris the same, said that when he retires in a couple of years he'll be back at the club to support it, just loves the place.

Trodden and Humpty tries to downplay the mood 'it's a professional game, changing, 2013 blah blah'

Thanks mate
I know who I believe….you cant BS passion

Gareth, Woodsy and Beau were the most popular amongst the crowd for autographs, saying hello etc. Funny to hear Woodsy quip when asked about his future 'hopefully a few more years here…given what's been going on in the past few weeks...'

Funny in a way….we are generally - or were - seen as an attacking style team, flamboyant, risky etc etc....yet the last four years our best players have been forwards.

Congrats Woodsy, well in!!...and all the other winners

BEAU Ryan and Chris Heighington defied raw emotions to front up, but axed coach Tim Sheens was a no-show as Wests Tigers ended the most significant era in the joint venture's history yesterday.

Three days after being told he was being moved aside, Sheens elected to skip the Tigers' traditional end-of-season presentation at Le Montage in Lilyfield.

His absence - and his successor's identity - were the prime talking points among the 1200 guests, with assistant coach Steve Georgallis left to explain the side's disappointing season.

Committed to the Sharks on three-year deals, Ryan and Heighington arrived in non-club attire with the saga of their exit still fresh.

"I've got to cut ties with the Tigers and move on to the next chapter of my rugby league career," Heighington said. "All has been said and done. I'm a Sharkie now."

Ryan needed to summon his composure on stage after being named Best Back.

"The last two weeks have been out of control," he said.

"This is the last time I'm going to spend with my best mates (at the Tigers).

"I want to have a great day and close this chapter."

Tigers skipper Robbie Farah said remaining players felt less confused about the radical changes after CEO Steve Humphreys and chairman Dave Trodden addressed the group on Wednesday.

With Gareth Ellis headed back to England and Blake Ayshford exploring options elsewhere, Farah called upon fellow playmaker Benji Marshall to guide a cultural overhaul at Concord.

"I'm going to be needing Benji more than ever with all these senior players leaving," he said. "It's going to be a challenging job, but one we're looking forward to.

"I think it's a chance for us to change the culture."

Sheens' future remains uncertain, split between accepting a new role at Wests or staying in contention for the New Zealand Warriors job.

Matt Parish remains the raging favourite to take over at the Tigers.

What I like about this article is that Robbie says he's looking forward to changing the culture at the club. They need to instil a more ruthless, disciplined culture at the club moving forward.
