Wests Tigers keen to take Matt Moylan off Cronulla’s books

He needs to fix those hamstrings. Been a big problem for way too long now.

Dont' get me wrong, Moylan is ultra talented but I seriously question why Madge would want to approach him for the custodian role (would imagine a 3 year deal) when the likes of AJ Brimson and Lomax are potentially available. Maybe he already knows they aren't going anywhere or potentially to other clubs.

Not much else available in the no 1 unless you take a cnk type punt.

Moylan adds class and a top noch goal kicker to our squad. Together with Thompson, Lomax, MOMO, Talau, Nofoaluma, Mbye, fitter Jennings, Benji, Brooks, Walters and Madden ...... he would give us a solid backline. Much more balanced than last year.

Just for once, it would be brilliant if we are the team that brings in a talented player to find his potential...

In fairness, we did that with Matterson.

Poor man's Tedesco.

I'm not a big Moylan fan, but pretty much every fullback going around is a "poor man's Tedesco".

No they aren't. Only if you look at it from a very simplistic point of view. I wouldn't classify 34 year old, over the hill Michael Gordon as a poor man's Tedesco, because he's not even in the same universe. Moylan has a bit about him as a player, but still falls short. Hence he's a poor mans version.

Umm Matterson, Taupau, Austin, Thompson, Momo. How many examples do you need?

True with those examples all players that were looking to improve.
I should have said 'fallen star to regain his potential' which is what I was getting at.

Moylan is an "icing on the cake" type player. He's the man who excels when the rest of the team does their job well. Doesn't lead well from behind IMO, much like Moses. Great on his day though.

I'm not sure us signing him with the current state of our roster will extract the best from him.

He isn't the kind of signing who will catapult us into the 8.

Isn't that basically what I've just said?

If we managed to hold on to Matterson, picked up another decent front rower and centre we'd be far better placed to get the best out of him. Without some options he'll become another Tedesco - pass to him and hope he does something.

I know it is all conjecture at this point, but I am confused as to how the dominoes will fall here. POM seems to reckon we're a very good chance of landing Lomax, if by some small miracle we also snared Moylan, the elephant in the room becomes Mbye. For mine, Moylan would go straight to fullback, Lomax is dead cert for centre, does Mbye keep the other centre spot and push Momo back to the wing? As I've previously said, a good sign of progression would be that Thompson (of whom I am a fan of and recognise for his efforts since coming to us,) would finish his contract playing reggies here, and we'd only see him in FG in the event of injury. Talau is untested at the moment, but is Mbye playing outside of position the best considering it might hinder Talau's development.

All questions that need to be asked and considered.

I'm also of the belief that if Moylan is a chance of coming here, as is Lomax, then that would almost be a certainty that Matterson would be gone, to which our forwards are left looking more bare than before.

Wrong direction.
We need a big pack. You can have anyone playing out back if the forwards are making metres.
Take Bryce Goodwin for example. He was made to look like a star behind a huge pack.

Signings like this make no sense.

And we are "poor men" so sign him up.
