Pascoe said yesterday that a lot of players want to come to Wests Tigers, but I am pretty sure that they would all be at Canterbury cup level.

Yeah, I follow the NBA and NFL big time and you can actually hear in Pascoe's rhetoric EXACTLY what he "learnt" on his junkets, err, business trips over there to study.

The best line yesterday was "we want to be a destination team"...those lines are literally ripped straight from the NFL.

If you look at our roster, aside from our local juniors, almost everyone was discarded or unwanted at their current clubs.

They are all with us basically as there was nowhere else to go.

Pascoe needs to quit the rhetoric and US style slogans and actually get out there and convince elite players WHY they should come. If he can't do that, then we need someone who can...

You can't sit there, straight faced, and say "destination team"...when half of your signings potentially were all Souths discards. (Jennings, Mugrove, AJ). That is not "destination"...that is "discard".

I know this sounds harsh, but recruitment makes or breaks teams nowadays and, under Pascoe so far, ours has been very poor.

While ever he is building profit and keeping in the black I have no issue with him. This to me is the foundation of a club and has benefits in the long term

But are we in the black? It was reported $100k profit last year. Ive seen nothing about this year but assumptions.

Maybe cause this year started on Nov 1 2019 to Oct 31 2020...?

Cheers Geo. So we made $100k profit 2 years ago. Nothing reported for last year that I've seen. Have you got any info?

Don't think those figures have been released yet...

Wests Tigers are self sufficient I believe..

I believe I'm attractive.

Yes how dare Pascoe learn and take learnings from global sporting competitions worth billions - much better to learn from some guy on the tiger forum

Also Jennings was leading try scorer in the NRL the year before, AJ is a test winger

Learn, yes. That was my point. We show no evidence of that...

Just quoting the cliches and rhetoric though is not learning....

And Jennings, despite Bennet publicly stating he wanted outside backs and speed, was completely unwanted. Bennet ignored him and let him walk.

Turns out Bennet was right.

It's a fair point...we can talk about being a 'destination team', but how do we define a 'destination team' in the NRL?

The Centre of Excellence is a good start imo. Premiership coach...yep...juniors...yep...outside of that, what else is there?

I do believe that having one home ground will make a big difference...I hope we get there some day.

We need to understand what is making us so unattractive as a club...and what makes us attractive. Until we work this out, we'll have more of the same.

All valid points mate. I am not sure the coach part is a big factor though. I am a big Madge fan personally, but most players do not want an old fashioned taskmaster. They want a 'player's coach' nowadays.

Agree totally re one home ground. We are nomads at the moment and that has a big impact on culture and the perception of a club. I wish we had something like Parra just got, but actually ours.

I have to disagree mate the coach is the core cog in the wheel that makes a good team great. Our current highly successful NRL examples are Bennet, Bellamy and Robinson with 11 titles between them.

I honestly don't think a great coach can be a 'players coach'. A great coach will foster a high level of respect and buy-in from the team, and that comes with discipline and knowing how to get the best out of each individual player.

I def agree with you re the coach.

I guess my point is many modern day players do not see it that way. Case in point being Matterson.

You're right. Millennials can be 'all about me'.

I'm old school and believe that a good coach / mentor should lead through experience and not pander to a players sook session.

Grown men commenting about another man's appearance on a footy forum haha - would you have preferred he shaved a day earlier, boys? Maybe went to the barber for a trim...worn a dashing 3 peice charcoal suit & shiny shoes?

Maybe he was appealing to the majority supporter base

I see @Geo isn't quoting this piece of brilliance by that Happy bloke

Sometimes it just takes a touch of common sense .....2 plus 2 =.......
