Wests Tigers Logo..

The bottom half of the Tiger looks like a magpie merged with the whiskers being wings spread.

Most importantly the new cropped logo will leave extra room for a larger Brydens Lawyers logo. Hat sales will skyrocket among supporters with Amychophobia much like Souffs have targeted their support base with Odontophobia. Thank you Mr Pascoe for continuing to make the tough decisions necessary for ongoing NRL domination.

I always knew things would get worse before they get better but geez...how much farther can we sink???

Wooden spoon coming up

Forgot about that...

3 in a row coming up and we’ll be the 1st team to lose to the Dolphins ?

@Craegus is pretty spot on.
To me this looks more enforced then inspired.

So after I was quite concerned about the change before it was released (I think this was pretty obvious), I have now been able to sit on the new design for a little while (looking back at it periodically to refresh the image in my head) and have come up with my final thoughts.

If I take into account this quote from the Newcastle Knights article when they unveiled their updated logo:

-----------

The update was required following changes to National Rugby League Branding Guidelines made ahead of the 2019 season.

These changes were implemented to give the NRL a cleaner, more streamlined design across all competitions, and saw the addition of new visual elements within which club brands would sit going forward.

These design elements were supported by the game’s broadcasters and media partners, and are now commonplace across Rugby League.

-----------

Then looking at the changes to the logo, like removing the claws, old text and V, then simplifying the head, making it work across various colour schemes which meets the NRL guidelines (including in a single colour without changing any of the design to do so), and removing the colours that are not part of the teams colours (yellow and red).

I have come to the conclusion, that I actually **like** the update.

It keep the heritage of the original logo, gives it a modern update, makes the head actually work on its own (I never thought the old one did that), even though still somewhat complicated it is something that a child could likely draw on their own (which is actually a good thing when it comes to branding), and is still recognisable as our logo.

So yeah, actually a positive change in my opinion.

It looks very bland now, which I guess is what the NRL wanted. It’s lost it’s pizazz and now looks like all the other roaring tiger logos you can find in the Internet, nothing special or identifiable about it.

I loved the Balmain tigers logo, I love Wests' logo (classic simple magpie), I've always hated our knock off American logo. This new one is simpler and a bit better. Still too cartoony for me, but I doubt I'm the target market.

Have the Panthers, Roosters, or Storm changed their logo in recent years in an effort to win a premiership, no, if if ain’t broke don’t fix it

Storm changed this year.

Correction 2 years back.

Yeah sorry rex you are off the mark on this one. Pretty common for updates to occur and I believe a lot of that currently is to do with digital branding vs decades-old logos.

Storm updated theirs in 2018. Raiders made an update 2019. Souths in 2015. Panthers in 2019. Knights in 2020.

Sharks are also planning to update their logo for 2020.

I had a bit of a play and removed the heavy white border which I think helps the design a lot.. also think if put Wests at the top would improve the proportion.

It’s the most recognised logo in the NRL , why change it

I thought it was childish to be honest.

But you like this?
It's the same thing minus the bloody claws

The clubs in a massive hole and all we've heard from them since the dogs embarrassment is sacking some staff, Brooks player of the year farce and a new defaced logo.. Whoopee

Percerption... If they really are tackling big issues theyd do well to inform their supporters **as it just looks like** they're farting around....

Folks getting triggered by a new logo?

Tigers have more than 1 employee and they can do more than 1 thing at a time. Particularly if they are outsourcing graphic design. Updating the logo doesn't necessarily have any bearing on staffing, coaching, players etc. The players don't even return to training for almost 4 weeks.

Should’ve asked the kids again like they did with our original logo from 2000

I think they should have brought back the girls in body paint, very classy move in 1999.

The logo is better is cleaned up and will look better on jerseys. Minor changes but that’s better you want to maintain a similar logo.

People complain for the sake of it seriously. Grow up.

So because some people don't like it they have to 'grow up'?
IMO the people that have to grow up are the ones that are happy to swallow every insignificant thing the club does yet are seemingly oblivious to the fact that we are regressing badly in nearly every department of our operation.
Altering the logo is the least of our problems, put a bit more time, effort and pride into more desperate issues our club is facing. Most people would be more than happy with that.

Interesting. I noticed the logo looks the most similar to that on the white background. But your version makes it blend even further into the black.

Which I don’t mind I must say.

I reckon if Tigers announced they were giving away 100 Playstation 5s to sick kids in hospital, people would still be logging on to complain about the waste of revenues.

Yeah, the lack of outline seems to weaken the design.
