Wests Tigers Members Day - 22 May

How was the fan day?? one thing is that they always but in a poor performance the day before fan day all the time, last year it was souffs game at ANZ and this year it was penwiff pamfers at cambo, dont know why that is??? does anybody know??? I couldnt make it fan day yesterday had a few things to do, did i miss much anyhow???

I went for a little while. They started about 20 mins late (nothing new there) and then the players came out on to the ground. There were a few interviews - Heigno, Miller, Dwyer (he did really well considering his shyness), Farah (thanked the members for supporting them during the games as we got them home on Sat night), Benji (he had to leave after the interviews as he was compering a Christchurch earthquake fundraiser). Lawrence was on the field kicking a ball from foot to foot (soccer style) which was a great sign.

People then lined up for autographs, not sure what the waiting time was but the queue at stages was 100m long.

We took a tour of the dressing sheds and then walked out onto the field and took some photos.

There was a clearance tent of clothing merchandise, competitions…..we left before the players came back onto the field for photos.

A good day, but probably not as good as the Concord Oval days of recent years.
It took over an hour to get to see the players as the line up did stretch 100m.
Massive crowd and Chris Lawrence looked in top shape.
The dressing shed tour and walk through the tunnel was also good.

I found the players were all very obliging and mixed well with the supporters. The line up to see them was ridiculous although there is no easy answer but Beau did ask if we'd had fun waiting 4 hours to see the players whilst he was joking it seems like 4 hours. The dressing room tour and walk down the tunnel was good, I heard all the kids asking where Benji sat in the dressing sheds and when they found out they all made a 'b' line for that bench. The ice tub sounds daunting and it must be freezing in the change room in the middle of winter, I didn't see any heating and after spending multiple lots of 3 minutes in the ice tub that's the first thing I'd be heading for!! Where was the sausage sizzle, what's a fan day without a sausage sizzle, had to settle for a hot dog with no taste. Thanks to the club for organising the day and they players for turning up hope the next one is at Campbelltown, less travel for some.

the boys as always were great and good fun. They were great with the kids signing and chatting. HAd a chat with Chris Lawrence he said all going well very frustrating still a couple of months before he returns.

Not a bad turnout…

But seriously, making people queue up for over 120m and up a flight of stairs to the top of the grandstand for signatures.........wake up to yourselves WT!!! You do realise there were elderly people standing in that queue don't you?? Some people only wanted one or two signatures from certain players, yet you make them queue for over an hour to wait for nearly the entire team??????????????

Anyway...not much doing at this event but always a great day out for the kiddies.

Players were ALL excellent with the crowd and very obliging to please and thank their supporters.

Lee Bennett held tours of the sacred sheds and even let women into the man-cave!! :brick:

Some good bargains at the merchandise stalls, and some deadset ripoffs too!! I mean......who wants to pay near full price for old jerseys which are XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL size??????? :unamused:
