Wests Tigers need stability to succeed in 2017

Vastly improved defensive structure and consistency are the keys to 2017 and everyone knows that. My main concern is how do we turn a few polders into champions, because it is very hard to see how we are going to turn things around without a few players improving out of sight.

Anyway we should get a very good idea in two months or so what we are installed for in 2017

I get frustrated how everyone thinks players like Tedesco & Moses are going to be the difference in 2017.

They were the difference this year. They will more than likely be the same players in 2017, giving their all with a competitive spirit week to week.

I want to know who else in our squad is going to go to a new level, because they are more than likely going to be the difference between 2016 & 2017.

FIRE UP TIGERS… WHO WILL STAND UP IN 2017!!!

Our improvement will come not from a player here or there, it will come from our halves showing a new level of maturity and being able to manage games better.

Too many times in the past few years when momentum has shifted we would try and play our way out of trouble only to compound the situation through errors. Games that we were belted in we went through long periods without the ball. We need our halves to recognise when we are in trouble and complete our sets and kick deep.

Plugging our right side defence would help too.

Simona, Brooks, Sue, Seumanufagai, Felise, Rowdy Lewis, Mayo, Ballin, Liddle and even Rankin..

All BREAKOUT Years…

+ all players off-contract lift immensely in a contract year..

On the other hand, if we play like against Cowgirls, Donkeys, Pussums, and Moses kicks the goal against Mescaleros … :smiley:
:sign:

If Ballin looks long term fit for 2017 I believe that he should at least share captaincy duty with Woods. The club really needs strong captaincy for 2017.

We need a few things to go our way this year to make it into the 8:

1\. Ballin has to stay fit;
2\. We need players like Aloiai, Sue, Nofo, Simona, Brooks and Ava to find that next gear. They don't all have to play out of this world the whole year, they all just need to improve that bit more;
3\. Improved defence.

Those three things happen and we're a shoe in for the 8, and may challenge the top 4.

Quite agree with your post CB…in my opinion number 3 will be the most defining if we are to be a much bigger threat in 2017...I hope the new defensive coaches are doing the hard yards with the squad this pre season..

Defence is certainly most important. I think the other two are what will be the difference between 6th-8th and possibly creeping into the top four.

If the defence improves, everything else will take care of itself. We had the second worst defence in the comp this year and still come 9th.

JT will try to fix our defence, but he won't make any promises lol.

The defence has been every coaches focus for the past decade but nothing has really changed, so what is going to be the secret to improving it in 2017????? The other sides are going to continually target our smaller men so unless they are given some help by the players inside and outside nothing will change, and the way I see it most of the players inside and outside of the small men have enough trouble defending their own patch without having to help others

OK super coach,I can see your argument,mine is,why the hell do we invest huge money on small inexperienced players if we can't be competitive….its about time we sorted out our priorities and got rid of the players that are draining our bank account with little onfield productivity and start showing them the door or where centre link is...I certainly hope we get a good amount in our cap after next season to buy players with known performance and ability not just HYPE and potential...
