Ok nice to get Koroibete back for the NYC boys.

Could someone fill me in on Matt Mulcahy?
I don't remember seeing him in the NYC team much this year.
What has happened to Jordan Marshall-King or Conor Toia.
Also why not put Rudolph back to the 6?
 
I hear Mosese Fotuaika is a good player and Payten rates him the strongest young forward he has seen. Any chance of him stepping up to first grade next year or does he need longer in the 20s?

I am a firm believer that Mosese will play FG next season, and he isn't eligible for the NYC next year in any event.

Toia is kick happy and stuffs up too many backline movements as a result, and Marshall-King is injured and probably won't play again this season. Unfortunately for Rudolph, his form has dropped away as the season has gone.
 
nofoaluma should be in the centers
surprised santi is on the bench, although payten has obviously gone with size, dogs pack has monstered us on both occasions this year
anyone have any info on mulcahy?

There's a good bunch of juniors coming through the grades AHX, I was impressed with Brown against the Roosters when i last seen them play. I think it was Goose who said this team has more talent than our 2009 20's team that lost in the Grand Final. That side had Woods, Lui, Fifita, Dwyer & Mulaney (not sure about the spelling but with Parra now)
 
Googling Matt Mulcahy reveals that he is from Mullumbimby Giants (Jacob Miller and Dane Chisholm are also). He was a forward in juniors. Played backrow for NSW CHS in Under 15's. Play first grade for the Giants when he was 17 and played schoolboys football as a prop/backrower.

Interesting to note from my googling that Blake Ferguson was an SG Ball prop, David Klemmer (who tonight won NYC Player of the Year as a prop) was the NSW CHS U15's halfback the year that Mulcahy played in the forwards, Will Hopoate was (unsurprisingly) a backrower and Pat Matu'utai was a dummy half. Weirdness.

Mac have you been on the soup ?
Blake Ferguson was a centre in the Sharks Sg Ball side when I first saw him.
And the only way Klemmer would have been the under 15 halfback is if he was selected as a 9 year old.

… Mind you, I have been wrong before.
 
I have seen Mulcahy play a couple of games for the WT 19's squad, he is a very good attacking player who is quick and elusive. He could have passed a bit more but did score 3-4 tries so at least when he does take the line on is a good chance of scoring. His kicking game isn't bad and while not really paying too much attention to his defence I would have noticed if he wasn't up to scratch. Rudolph and Toia played 19's last night both played OK but were out played by a number of other players, Daniel Rakvin 12 and Leva Li 4 were probably the pick on the night. The game was against the Doggies with WT winning about 9 tries to 3.

No mate there were about 24 players, some from out of district some of the 20's squad and some of both Balmain and Wests SG Ball. All of the Holy Cross kids were unavailable due to them playing a school game today.

Strong stance has Payten's men on notice

Todd Payten coaches the same way he played throughout his long and distinguished career – straight up and no nonsense.

The highly respected clubman has done a superb job in his first season of coaching, taking the Wests Tigers NYC team to the finals. The team finished fourth to earn a second chance in the finals and will take on minor premiers the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium this Friday.

Payten delivered a strong warning message to his players ahead of the final round clash against Melbourne last Saturday night by dropping five-eighth Conner Taia and full-back/winger Manaia Rudolph – the latter being the leading pointscorer in the U20s competition.

“There are two parts in rugby league. There is attacking and defending. If you can’t do both, you don’t play in my side,’’ Payten said.

“Brenden Santi can probably think himself unlucky as he has been one of our best forwards all year but he has just dropped off in the last 3-4 weeks.”

Payten makes no apologies for his tough and refreshing stance. Toia has not been named in the team for the Bulldogs clash while Santi and Rudolph are on a six man interchange bench.

“I told the players the side is going to be picked on performance. We are fit and healthy. Everyone knows where they stand,’’ the former premiership winning prop said.

“We are nowhere near our best footy. We have been treading water for the last 6 weeks. A lot of the times when you are in that position, you just have to find a way to win. We found it against the Storm and hopefully that will kick start us.

“Everyone is saying and doing the right things at training. It is just a concentration thing. It is not our fitness. We are very fit.”
