People need to learn to read…...

Good recruitment continues for the admin/mgmt roles at the club.

Lets hope over the next few years these purchases turn the corner for us as a whole.

Its clear we are getting serious with our activities to drive a successful culture.

Will be interesting if this sparks more Des talk now 2 of his key personal over the years are here.

Des would tick most of the boxes of what i want in a coach.
1 Experienced and a winning culture
2 Seems to attract the players he wants
3 Most importantly not someone with affiliations to Balmain or Magpies we have had 3 of those and all have been mediocre to pathetic.
It is no coincidence that our 2 best coaches came from outside of the JV. Sheens till end 2007 and Potter.
I am dreaming, he will never come here because we cant afford him and he is still under contact.Hope springs eternal.

Des actually did play with the Magpies at one stage, but it was a long time ago. I agree it would be nice to have him here though.

I didn't realize he was with Wests either, I thought he was from the Panthers

Seems like it's just another jobs for the boys appointment handpicked by Egan …just a different set of boys...Fresh eyes can be a good thing....Replacing Macca would mean working on Junior development something Manly have never been that good at..

Maybe a shift to 'the chequebook' approach is on the way..

The majority of the recent good Manly teams were all built from within with jrs or kids they picked up early.

Nice to see a replacement has been found, but how is it the recruitment managers job to retain existing players, especially when they're just new to the club. Would have thought that's Egans job and the recruitment managers job is to identify and recruit new players?

Maybe it's because Wests Tigers don't expect to do any new recruitment for at least another nine months.

Surely it must be our turn to have Peter Mulholland work at the Wests Tigers

He has worked at every club in the NRL

Mulholland!!! Why? Lets check his recent record. 2013 & 2014 Knights. 2015 Dragons. 2016 Raiders. Knights struggling. Dragons struggling. Raiders on fire but most of the signings were done before Mullholland got there in Nov 2015\. I think these recruitment guys are myths. They might identify some kids at carnivals but other than that, I think coaches get who they want and the recruitment guys do the paperwork.

The club has lost the plot. I know of this guy Warwick or Wok they call him and I can't believe they signed him. He lasted one season at the dragons and players don't like him. There will be players here that won't be happy at all

my first reaction was WTF. The Dragons have rubbish recruitment?!

But I see he was only there for a year and was a key manager at Manly with Hasler & Egan for many years.

Should be interesting to see how Egan & Warwick position our club in the future now the NYC is going.

They asked the players first if it was okay if they signed him…. Players said yeh

Mate, he is not nice. He tells you only what you want to hear. "speaks with a forked tongue" Dreadful signing

Both Egan and Warwick have worked with very successful clubs and have had no previous links with our club and that can only be a very good thing.

Are you a player agent… Or maybe a player parent?

No and No. Just know of him and good mates with some players. Anyway that's my thought on the matter

Spent a season with us when Manly thought he should retire but he thought he had a year left in him. Manly had just signed Craig Field. We all know how that ended.

Makes me nervous that the re-signing of our big 4 had been placed in the hands of 2 new comers who would not know them that well. I guess time will tell.

Tongue in cheek perhaps …....

Turn your saracasm meter on mate

We sure seem to be getting a lot of non playing people on to a already stretched payroll. Far cry from the days of a captain coach, club CEO and a part time doctor working for the love of the joint.

Everyone now has a assistant or two below them to pass on the blame if things go wrong!!! I get the feeling the poor junior girl on the front desk is where the buck will end up stopping

Warwick joins Wests Tigers as Recruitment Manager

Mon 9th January, 03:12PM

Wests Tigers can confirm that David Warwick has joined the Club in the position of Recruitment Manager.

Warwick brings a wealth of experience to the Club, working in rugby league for over 20 years.

Most recently, Warwick held the positon of Recruitment Manager at the St George Illawarra Dragons for one season and prior to that spent 11 years in a similar role at Manly-Warringah.

Wests Tigers General Manager – Football, Kelly Egan, said the appointment of Warwick is a quality acquisition for the Club.

“Dave comes to the Club with a good skillset and one that will tailor right into what we are looking to achieve in regards to encouraging our youth and making sure we are utilising our pathways,” Egan said.

“He has coached junior representative sides and comes to us with a really broad knowledge of the player agents list and has a really good operating relationship with them.

“I’m confident Dave can come into the organisation and keep up the good work that was done previously.

“He has good values as a person and is well-respected by other recruitment managers and player managers; so, it’s great to have him at Wests Tigers,” he said.

Warwick expressed his excitement in the new opportunity that has presented itself at Wests Tigers.

“I was asked by Kelly if I'd consider joining Wests Tigers and I felt that it was an opportunity being a Club with young staff and a young roster that I wouldn't mind exploring,” Warwick said. "After a few meetings it came to a decision that I would join Wests Tigers.

"From being an outsider, and from just one day here, I can see a good culture change; the players here are definitely buying into what the Head Coach wants and that's terrific.

"They are all genuinely terrific boys and are training hard, there's a lot of upside because there is a good amount of youth here and it's something that I'm pretty keen to be involved with,” he said.

Warwick replaces long-term Wests Tigers Recruitment Manager, Warren McDonnell, who joined the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs recently.

Good interview….nice listen...

I like the comment from Egan that Warwick is well respected by player managers and other recruitment managers. While sad to see Mark O'Neill depart, Egan is a fine acquisition for the club.
