Many would argue it is inferred by their lack of on-field performance.
Many would argue that it's not that it's just they are useless..
My real question is - what will it take for the players to support a coach on-field? Clearly Madge is a passionate man, believes in players, supports players, has invested very personally in the club. He seems like the type of guy you'd want to go into battle with. He's not a "grandfatherly" type mentor, but he almost seems indefatigable. He doesn't appear prone to excessive outburts, a la Ricky Stuart circa 2015.
Madge has played the game, played with elite-level players, learned coaching skills under the best coaches and then won comps in multiple leagues.
So what kind of coach exactly do we need to get results out of the roster we have, if that type of guy isn't good enough, or has worn off? How is the respect earned?
It's unenviable - I can't claim that I know how to relate to modern 20 year olds, and I'm only 41.
