Wests Tigers Pre Season Trial Matches

I know he probably needs a run, but I’d much rather see him in a Tigers jersey for the first time in round 1. Bit underwhelming that his first game in our colours is a trial.
I know he needs a run in the halves with Galvan just hope he is over that leg niggle not worth risking if not right.

This is my guess for the team sheet. caveat - I’ve been a bit out of the loop regarding injuries

1 Mason (assume Bula is still out)
2 L Lauilili
3 Staines (assume Olam out based on rumours)
4 Naden
5 Skelton (reward for last week, assume Turuva still recovering from appendectomy)
6 Galvin
7 Luai (assuming he’s ok but will play limited minutes to help with forming combos)
8 Klemmer
9 Api
10 May
11 Sam Fainu
12 Seyfarth
13 Pole
14 Bird
15 Hunt
16 Sione Fainu
17 Twal

18 Da Silva
19 L Fainu
20 Doueihi
21 To’a
22 K Lauilili
23 Porter
24 Matamua
25 Sukkar
26 T Johannssen
27 Faataape

I’m hoping they do something like Luai plays the first half, in that Galvin the first 20 and Latu the second 20 so Latu hopefully gets a bit more of a go without Galvin ball hogging (didn’t watch the game just what I have heard).

Just gonna guess line up will be something like this depending on injury (X/Y is where rumoured there is rumoured injury) (P.S this is not what I think our best starting line up would be)
1. Bula
2. Turuva
3. To’a
4. Olam/Naden
5. Luke Laulilii/Staines
6. Galvin
7. Luai
8. May
9. Api
10. Pole
11. SamFainu
12. Seyfarth
13. Bird (some time in second row as well)
interchange
LatuFainu
SioneFainu
Skelton (on bench as already started against bulldogs and 5 day turnaround)
Staines/Saukuru
Naden/Faataape
Doueihi (some time at centre, some time in halves)
Mason
Hunt
Twal
Klemmer
Kit Laulilii
TDS
Porter

I don’t know how many will be named so named 26. Assume coaches probably wanna try a few options in the centres/wings so lots of backs. Named kit because he apparently did quite well, so they might wanna see more against a stronger opposition (assuming eels go for a close to best line up as well). I didn’t watch the trial (don’t have pay TV) so don’t really know what happened, but I watched the all stars and Naden, Hunt and Porter all seemed to do well. I think I might make the trek out to the game to have a look at the team as I can’t make Round 1 unfortunately.

While I am keen to see several of our FG side run out I don't see this game as anthing more than an opportunity to focus on getting the basics right with multiple combinations. We need to grind out the yards, kick to the corners/for repeat sets and focus on our defensive structure. Our kicking game should be focussed on 40/20 execution, kicking for seagulls early in the set and attacking with our defence. When we are in the strike zone we should score tries if the opportunty presents but focus on the execution of plays that can result in points, repeat sets or advantageous handover. How we end our sets is a key foundation of our defence.

On the other side of the ball is all about field postion, stuctures and decision making. Wedging in (up and in) is only an effective structure if there is a commitment to cover (scramble). This is a high effort defensive strategy that requires fitness and coordinatiion. The key enabler is attitude but it is underpinned by fitness,

We should be looking at different combinations being able to replicate these fundamentals throughout the game. Winning isn't everything just yet; getting the structures right is more important.

Do we have any spies able to get down to training and give us an insight as to what we can expect to see on the Friday?

I'd hope Sione F and Luke L are named... Pretty poor if they're out thru injury and no info on this from the club
