Wests Tigers Private Ownership is that the Answer?

Wests Tigers is already privately owned. HBG are not a government entity. So what do you really want?
If only the BLUE WIGGLE had the big bucks because what he does have is a massive passion for the Tigers! Times have changed but Russell Crowe and Peter Holmes a Court paid A$3 million in 2006 to acquire a 75% ownership stake in the South Sydney Rabbits. The remaining 25% stayed in the hands of the club members. Changes can be made, as it turned South Sydney into one of the NRL's strongest, culminating in their 2014 premiership (their 1st in 43 years) and in 2026 approximately 31,500 members. HBG just need to step aside as their are too many cooks in the kitchen.

Sorry this is a bit lengthy and covers with previously dealt with matters, but it’s to show the ongoing recent failure under HBG as I will ignore the previous 15 years and focus on the last 12 months only

HBG sack the independent board members despite this board by all parameters being successful

HBG invites the sacked board members back to comprise part of a new board

HBG creates a new board that is effectively an extension of the HBG board and far from independent

HBG fails to announce this new board to supporters

Shane Richardson had achieved success with the independent board and had conditions in his contract with HBG that he required to work with an independent board with get out clauses for a full payout if that failed to continue/ eventuate

Richardson was as good as his word and left

HBG then appointed an ‘interim’ CEO, despite it being known that ex manly CEO and Benny Elias had both been offered the CEO position and board chairman respectively

It was presumed the NRL chairman had step in to veto most of these HBG board decisions.

The season started under great fanfare and a video released of Benji stating the Tigers stand for something and if you aren’t going to meet standards the door is over there

The season starts well but suspensions and injuries cruel the season after round 9

Additionally at this time Luai has get out clauses in his contract and opts to sign with the new team for the tax free pot of gold.

From there the season goes down hill

Then this week AD refuses to play after being told he was being selected as lock off the bench

The response to this failure to comply with the coaches decision was to hold a meeting with his rep I Moses, the next day AD was selected in his demanded position.

This hardly shows what wests tigers stand for as Benji referred to at the start of the season.

Wests tigers supporters should expect players to leave in 2027 even if they have contracts with no compensation or replacement player as history shows they have rolled over so many times before and AD has shown nothing has changed.

Wests Tigers stand for NOTHING

This is all under the management of HBG

I'll flick a DM to the Welcome to Wrexham boys. Having Rusty involved might be enough to lure Ryan and Rob over.

Although I'm not convinced you could squeeze a whole TV series out of the Tigers.

Maybe call it "Welcome to the Shitshow" and upload it to Pornhub instead. There's a niche audience for every kind of S&M, especially watching prolonged public humiliation every weekend.

So you are saying you just want a different private owner, instead of being privately owned by HBG?

Mike I can see by your Avatar picture of Noel Kelly you were and probably still are a Wests MAGPIES supporter just as I am (though now a Wests Tigers fan). Are you a strong believer in the Holman Barnes Group and the way they have run the Wests Tigers footy club? Are they the answer to turning the footy club back into a regular NRL finalist and why?

Actually, technically it's owned by non-profit licensed social/leagues clubs. Profits do not go to individuals.

Not the same as private ownership - private ownership would mean an individual, private company or public company with beneficial owners.

Big difference.

Ask him if he is happy how Wests Ashfield ran the Magpies when they were in the comp.
