Wests Tigers Punt Ayshford

Article by Josh Massoud September 20 PRESSURE is building on Wests Tigers officials to explain their latest shake-up to sponsors and members, who will be asking fresh questions after centre Blake Ayshford was this week given permission to join the Concord exodus.
The club is enduring one of its most difficult weeks on record following the sudden departure of popular pair Chris Heighington and Beau Ryan, on top of ongoing uncertainty over the future of coach Tim Sheens.

Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys is experiencing immense strain as he attempts to placate confused players and sponsors amid a tough financial backdrop that's nullified any chance of paying out the final two years of Sheens' contract.

The Daily Telegraph can also reveal Ayshford has begun searching for a new home in 2013 after being told to look elsewhere, with South Sydney mentioned as a possible suitor.

The Rabbitohs have decided to release Fetuli Talanoa and have also sounded out Canberra Raiders winger Sandor Earl.

It's also understood that Tim Moltzen's new three-year deal is yet to be signed-off on as the Tigers juggle their salary cap to accommodate Manly prop Brent Kite next season.

Ryan found himself in a similar predicament, and without any written security for next season, pledged his services to Cronulla. Heighington is also bound for the Sharks after being told his Tigers contract would not be extended beyond next year.

The 29-year-old thought he'd stay a Tiger for life after club officials convinced him to reject a three-season deal at Penrith 12 months ago.

Utility Tom Humble is also on his way out, while experienced trio Lote Tuqiri, Matt Utai and Liam Fulton are all finalising new deals.

The sudden changes in recruitment and retention policy - leading to so many influential characters leaving - has ripped the heart out of the club's playing roster.

Sponsors are understood to be particularly angered over Ryan's loss, given the exposure he generates on The Footy Show each Thursday night.

And The Daily Telegraph can also reveal senior Tigers players met on Monday night to discuss the loss of Heighington and Ryan.

The survivors will this week complete post-season training, which has been overseen by Sheens.

The Warriors have made contact with the four-time premiership-winner to rebuild their fortunes following a disastrous 2012 campaign. But it remains to be seen whether Sheens wants to relocate should a formal offer be made.

Get rid of moltzen first thanks…

The club is a shambles at the moment and as much as sheens needs to go Humphrey bear should also face the chop. He renewed sheens for too long, needs to buy a calculator for the salary cap, and is now pissing off fans big time

Memo to Humpty: when you announce a signing, the SIGNING part is the most important part of the announcement.

Strap yourselves in boys and girls, the offseason is here and I predict stormy weather ahead.

All I've heard all season is we should sack every man and his dog. Well, here it is. You have to have chaos before you have order and I feel that over the coming months there will be bodies going left right and centre. Then after all the negative stuff, the news of who we have signed will come and suddenly things don't seem so bad. This is it people, the clean out many have been calling for. Whether you agree or not as to who is going and staying, it's finally happening. Suck it up and roll with it and let's see what the roster is like at the end of it all. Although I still can't believe we are not getting rid of Tiquiri and Utai.

Good news. Ayshford is another average, overrated under performer.

Punt.Moltzen and Sheens too and this clean out will be the best thing that's happened to this club in years.

What makes you think this?

Have to say we brought this on ourselves. half our salary cap divided up into about 3 players. A half/five eight who runs the club and has tantrums when something looks like its not going his way, backstabbing other clubs for our own benefit, backstabbing loyal players for the 'big' (read hopeless) signing and the all round arrogance that has been displayed on and off the field this year has lead to an unstable and ultimately unhappy club.

Why would you want to work somewhere if you arent happy and get a better deal somewhere else?

OMG Our best player last year just because he was not in form this year is not an excuse to sack him, what about moltzen? he cost us the game against Bulldogs and Broncos when did Ayshford actually cost us a game?

if we are going to use that rule then Benji is the first to go…

but when was the last time ayshford had a standout game, i used to love the guy as a solid centre but we can't drag a player along when we need a new direction. Motlzen to go too!!!!!

Lawrence should be nervous i guess since he has really lost form over the last 18 months. Hope he doesnt go!

But i'm sure Timid has a nice big umbrella to keep himself dry. Seriously the politics at this club is sickening
