Interview with Robbie in regards to the 2014 season without Benji on the ninemsn page

A few interesting points in particular Richards will be the goalkicker in 2014

Not a bad read

yup good read. and as you noted about richards. looks like he will walk in to the side, least at the beginning, for his goalkicking alone.

question is. if richards is injured, who kicks?

wonder if brooks is any good.

Wests Tigers prepared for the post-Benji Marshall era, says Robbie Farah

WESTS Tigers NRL fans need not despair, skipper Robbie Farah is confident there's life after Benji Marshall.
But he admits it won't be easy.
Farah, a newly-crowned world champion, arrived back in Sydney this week with a spring in his step and says he noticed a quiet air of confidence about the Tigers as well.
"I went in and popped my head in and everyone's looking fit and healthy and training really hard," the Kangaroos star said.
"There's going to be a few changes next year, obviously. Some new recruits coming in, some new assistant coaches, and the boys are really enjoying it."

With no Marshall, though, for the first time in a decade, Farah acknowledges the Tigers face a tough transition trying to transform themselves from near-wooden spooners in 2013 to title contenders in 2014.
"Without Benji, obviously it will be difficult at first," he said.
"But we've got to move on. I think we've accepted that.
"But he's definitely big shoes to fill and whoever jumps into the six jumper has a massive job to do - but I'm confident they can do that." It certainly won't be Tim Moltzen jumping into Marshall's place any time soon, with the luckless playmaker set to be sidelined for up to six months after breaking his left kneecap last week.
Moltzen's latest serious injury follows a second knee reconstruction earlier this year on the same leg.
"It's terrible luck," Farah said.
"He was training really well from all reports and coming back from that knee reco that he had earlier this season.
"But this is another major setback for him and one I'm sure that's very shattering for him." The

Tigers will also be without dual international Lote Tuqiri. Farah, though, says the club has a readymade replacement in 2005 grand final hero Pat Richards, who returns after a long stint for Wigan in the English Super League.
"Lote gave us a lot of experience out there, but Patty Richards has come back in from England and he's a very experienced player and goalkicker as well," Farah said.
"Benji was our goalkicker so Patty will come in and be our goalkicker as well. He's a different threat for us out on the wing with his size and his speed." After regularly being rated among the pre-season favourites but failing to deliver, the Tigers are refusing to talk up their title chances in 2014.
"It's a bit early in the year to sit down and talk about goals," Farah said.
"This year was difficult with the amount of injuries we had and we really struggled to handle that.
"But hopefully next year we can have a decent run with injuries and have a decent season."

Interesting to see Robbie says Richards will take over kicking duties. Does this mean he's guaranteed a backline spot? Lots of competition there when Nofa, Lawrence, Simona, Koroibete and Richards are all fit

Thanks for helping this technotard out

The other point I found slightly strange was Robbie's comment about Moltzen

Did anyone else get the feeling that Farah doesn't think he will make it back and strange he didn't wish him well ??

sorry, which part of farah's interview made you think moltz isn't coming back? seems to be just saying, s**t happens and that sucks for tim.

maybe i missed something

When he says it is very shattering for him

Wouldn't a captain normally come out and give his full support and wish him a speedy recovery ??

i guess so….. think you might be reading into it a bit much though.

doubt farah would even be privy to such info unless moltzen told him his plans about leaving. And i dont think he has any judging by some of the stuff he's been tweeting which suggest determination/hard work to try get himself back into FG ASAP.

I didn't say that Moltz didn't think he'd make it back I said Farah

I thought Richards would be a guaranteed starter at least early in the season coming back with Benji gone. Nofo I think is in front of Koro at this stage but that can change with a good pre-season. Lawrence and Simona are first choice centre for me but Luilia will get a chance with Simona recovering from injury.

No

Lots of things he could have said…

"Without Benji, obviously it will be difficult at first," he said.

Farah himself will find it different the most

I doubt it will be difficult tho…he'll be lovin it in no time

Yeah good pick up Happy …. Almost like there is no coming back this time.

Just on Farahs comments re Benji .... It's an admission that a lot more of the playmaker responsibilities will rest with him.

Looks like they were selective with quotes (better than DT at least) so wouldn't read into it much. The article was more about life after Benji since the Moltzen injury was 2 odd weeks ago.

Farah always tries to do too much himself. I think he will find it difficult to give Brooks the control he requires.

I just hope it doesn't result in Robbie overplaying his hand. It's great that he takes as much responsibility with the ball in hand as he does, I just hope he allows Brooks and who ever wears the 6 to take responsibility for playmaking as well.
