Wests Tigers side for Round 1

I liked the little I saw from Flanagan during the trials. I reckon he could be a real surprise packet.

I would imagine Lote will play 60 minutes tops to be honest before Fitzy gets a run. That or if we get to a decent lead Farah will be pulled and Fitzy to slot in there. Honestly I am still not sold that Marshall will be fit but time will tell on that.

Flanagan will be a bit of a suprise this year I think. He may take a while to really settle in but his work ethic is second to none.

Once we get through the first few rounds where we always carry a bench utility back we should slot another forward in (at this stage I assume Payten will come back in to replace Flanagan when he is fit)

The season is kicking off and it feels good

Very weak bench… the starting 11 is ok though

Agreed. The Fitzhenry fixation is ridiculous we do not need a back on the bench, let alone a mediocre "utility" like Fitzhenry. Not sure why my post was deleted BTW. :unamused:

Looking forward to seeing how Flanagan goes.

Strong starting side. Hopefully Flanagan goes well off the bench as I think Mataka would have been handy against the Manly pack. Fitzy may give Lote a spell if he has a shocker or is found wanting in the fitness department. Hopefully the Tigers aim up and win this one. Manly have a strong pack and won't be a pushover.

If Sheens pulls Farah off for Fitzhenry that will do me. Surely that could never happen!?

I don't know why anyone thinks Lote won't play the full 80\. It's not as if he hasn't been training for months. He has plenty of match fitness, albeit in rugby, and he's on the wing, so I doubt that he is going to come off (injury permitting of course). The jetlag won't be a problem by Monday, especially as he's flown business and not cattle class. Should only take two days at most to recover from that, so he'll be raring to go.

I would have selected Mataka on the bench instead of Fitzhenry, especially as Manly have quite a big pack so its going to take alot of work from the forwards to beat them.

Fitzhnery the greatest player of all time!! why is Lote making the headlines and not him?? hes the greatest ever greater then any other player Sheens has coached he makes any team no matter what even would have started ahead of Laurie Daley at 5/8 if he was at Canberra

Hasler said the plan is to kick to Lote and then to watch Lote kick it out on the full LOL

Manly's side looks very good on paper, BTW.

We should smash Foran at every opportunity.

And Brett Stewart. They should put a little kick through and smash him as soon as he touches the ball. Or maybe use the bomb to do it like Melbourne did in the 2007 grandfinal!

The selection of Fitzhenry is truly inexplicable. Not only is he keeping some good youngsters who are completely deserving of a run out of the team, he was useless in his first go around.

Lote's got five days to get over his jetlag, get introduced to the team, find a shirt that fits and forgot the rules of rugby union - that will be a challenge in itself.

Other than that, no surprises really.

Well I could have gone to a scenario that would make your head possibly explode. That being that Marshall is not 100% and as such Sheens is carrying Fitzy on the bench just in case

But as far as the side goes I am ok with it. Of course I would have made some different decisions but pretty much any team has fans who are in the same boat.

If Payten was available I would be interested to have seen that side

I like the starting lineup!… Would've liked to see Mataka in there somewhere..but I guess they need a utility...but hey can't Flanagan play several positions?...

For Oprah's sake…...I have been head of the anti FWO for years, but is there any chance of not writing the bloke off before he has laced on a boot for us.

Ya never know,he might go ok????

Why ellis in 12 rather than 11?

Sheens must want Liam on the left side and Gareth on the right side. I'm not sure why 😕

I really think against Manly more size on the bench would be better. Mataka or Fifita instead on Fitzy would have been good.
