Wests Tigers Side

This is a very gutsey move from Sheens. The sort of one he will live or die by. He has obviously had this contingencey in place as he has had Lui training with 1st's for a few weeks as reported in the telecrap. Its great to see a young bloke get his chance in these circumstances, it must be a dream come true for him. I dont know a lot about Lui though, Just whats been whitten about him in the last couple of days, so Im just trusting our coaching groups judgment here. Go you good thing.

Now see this is where im confused 😕 they said in Daily Telegraph that he has trained for a couple of weeks with them, then on WTV Cuzzo said he had his first session on tuesday/wednesday! I mean if hes been training with them for weeks now, should be a stroll in the park for him in terms of picking up the many WT plays, if he hasnt, hes got his wopk cut out for him!

I watch Wests Tigers train alot. Sometimes there are guys interchanging and running wth the side doing ballwork who I cant even put a name to. I think this is done because The Fonz likes, in theory, to have all the feeder teams playing a similar style to the NRL side. So players adapt easier. I saw Lui have a run with them as early as May.

It means nothing. I bet what Cuzzo meant is that he had his first proper complete ballwork run run on Tuesday.

Look for both Lui & Marshall to share the first receiver role. The traditional halves roles are no longer applicable to the Tigers style of play. Both the 6 and 7 alternate as first and second receiver throughout various stages of the game and either side of the ruck respectively. It adds a different dimension to the attack. This in itself will assist Lui in handling to the task a lot easier, lessening the workload and pressure on the kid, seeing both he and Marshall playing closer and wider of the ruck from set to set for Wests.

Gee Gobbs someone with some sense…

Benji has been playing 7 in the 6 jumper for the last 2 weeks....nothing will change against the Sharks....Lui is a 5/8 wearing 7....just gives some people a reason to whinge about Sheens and his selection policies....Would not even surprise me to see Robbie slot into first receiver in certain sets...like a penalty restart.....Moltzen up in the line on the right when something is brewing

Who is Lui's wingman in defence is what I want to know? I'd pump for Galea or Ellis/Ayshford.....

Yes and Benji is finally starting to come good…... that and the Pigs matching and outplaying most packs they have been up against in the last 5 weeks.... haven't the performances on the field lifted.....Sheens will manufacture Benji into a 7 yet....He is Stubborn

You maybe right will he manufacture him to be a half back playing more a second receiver or a halfback like kimmorley.Who knows or cares really as long as where winning more games then we lose.Or the experts on tv always say the game has changed that a 7 and 6 rarely play on the same side of the field so thats always a factor depending on who we play.Benji has been playing better since hes had help from moltzen AND NOW HOPEFULLY LUI.

Late Mail for the Tigers from the SMH:

Wests Tigers centre Chris Lawrence remains in doubt with a hamstring problem. Lawrence did not run with the team yesterday, with Dean Collis ready to replace him if needed.

With that news I'm starting to think Lui will shift into the centers, Moltzen in the halves and Collis to fullback on more than one occasion while we are attacking.. I still expect that Lui will be defending in the centers and Ayshford in the halves…

Sorry Kaiser, I can not see Collis anywhere near fulback or Lui in the centres when attacking.
In defence Lui my defend outside Ellis or Payten depending which side he is on but that would be it.
Lui will play a very simular role to how Molzten has been playing at 7.
Lui and marhsall will play on either side of the ruck and only play together on playes that require movement from sideline to sideline or 70%.

I cant wait to see how Lui goes on Sunday. I hope he just pays his natural attacking game and gets involved early to clam the nerves.
Good luck kid!!

Don't get me wrong.. so do I… just have a feeling we'll still see Moltzen in the halves more often than Lui..

Moltzen will definitely play in the line in attack, but I won't be surprised if Lui is encouraged to call a lot of the playmaking shots too. He's a natural at spotting a hole and putting a player through a gap and should play his natural game. I'll be interested to see if he uses his short kicking game close to the line too.

I am sure Molzten will play up in attack but i hope it is more in a supporting role.
You can sometimes have too many ball players who over rule and confuse the line runners.
I am not sure on Lui's short kicking game, havent been too impressed when i have seen him play. It is something he will need to work on.
I am just excitied to see a young future star on show. The kid just excites me.

Lui has a very good kicking game from what I've seen. In the Canberra game when we were down 14-0, it was from the boot of Lui which played a big part in the comeback. His passing game is his biggest strength though.
