I think that's just a politically correct way for him to say it. Due to his commitments (with his other job), he can't do the WT job - that's pretty accurate, NRL won't let him.

@Lauren, if I was their editor, my interest would be in how ridiculous my journalist was to compare a premiership winning year with one in which the coach backdoored the club mid season. Still, it is absurd that the donkeys have had such a large footy city to themselves for so long, yet they have not won the comp since the year after the long battling club targeted in the article.

Also said that Brisbane and Nth Qld were the only clubs in NRL that made a profit last year. Quite a lot of the comments pointed out all of his misconceptions about WT and that he should be looking at a lot of other teams in sydney before WT which was good - normally these type of articles garner the response of yep lets kick them out.

Lower crowds than the last time they won a premiership? You mean the same as Canberra, Bulldogs, Cronulla, Manly, Penrith, etc. What a ridiculous statement.

I fully support a second Brisbane team, but the last attempt was a horrid failure. Let's not assume it will be an initial success.

The last time wasn’t a disaster as they were doing well in Brisbane. That’s why part of SL was to get rid of them, so Broncos could go back to being a one team town,
There’s a hell of a lot who can’t stand the Broncos up here

I can assure you the feeling would be far stronger everywhere else in australia.A protected club in the media and the heirarchy of the NRL

At some time there will be a second club in Brisbane, no business can see a chance to get a large Suncorp crowd EVERY week just disappear.
I’d like to be as sure of winning Lotto.
and il be surprised if at least one team hasn’t gone from Sydney within a few years
It’s got to happen, just too many clubs all wanting a slice of the same cake.

Yeah, I live "up here". They started well and dropped off quickly. I went to a game where the official crowd was 2362, but there were less than 1000 there. And they got the spoon their last 2 years running.

I live up here as well, and if it wasn’t for being underfunded and the SL ,they may have had a better chance of succeeding

They averaged over 21000 , and 13000 respectively for their first two seasons, despite the league stupidly droping 4 new teams into the league all at once , and I think their biggest crowd was around 34000,

Money was their bigger problem , and I’d say that the NRL would do better ,as far as resources if another team came in from Brisbane.

It will happen, just a case of when

That Courier Mail article is typical garbage.
I now truly believe that Greenberg absolutely has it in for our club. He's on a mission. What next? Time will tell.

long time reader here, first time poster….hopefully i wont ask to much of a dumb question!

can i ask why you guys think we didn't ask for Matty Johns to become mentor to brooks? would he not have been a better choice...? ive always wondered this.

he's done it before so wouldnt have had issues with Greenburg, hes a well respected among the coaching staff of many teams and arguably has worked magic on some of the most exciting and top playmakers of the league...why did we not go for him?

I would guess because of Madge's shared history with Daley.

Welcome Zach. Both Daley and Johns have achieved plenty. Maybe Daley and Madge are close. Maybe Johns had other commitments. Either could help out our team an awful lot. Looks like we get nobody. Wonder if Todd Payten sees an opening LOL

Away from the forum for too long and miss all the goss.

That's a real kick in the teeth decision from the NRL, are we going to be the whipping boys for the year?

Still makes me feel frustrated when I see the All Stars team photo with Daley sitting square on the middle. It really is a joke this decision and has anyone had a logical explanation why the NRL has allowed this? Please dont tell me its a feel good clause because of his heritage.
