I think both Matterson and Momi are a step in the right direction for the WTs…Strengthening our backrow and centres should be a priority and we are now achieving that...hopefully season 2019 will be our first finals appearance for quite awhile..

Ive heard this positive hopefullness about new recruits year after year etc etc…I think Its going to take more than these two to get us into the eight and above, but yeah hopefully theyre an improvement on what weve lost...thats always easier to say on paper than the reality of 80 mins week in week out on the field

I am excited & hopeful as he is 15 years younger than players we usually recruit.

Well INK,I know we hear the same thing year after year,however we have solved our cap issues and Ivan is searching more for quality rather than quantity…Although we do need a couple of more NRL standard players,Im sure Ivan knows this and could surpise us with other players we may not know that he has in mind..

I like the idea of targeting players from good systems who are road blocked by a top notch player. The only concern is players from good systems don’t always adapt when they leave that system when they are not surrounded by quality.

It's a cliche now.

They say the two positions are pretty interchangeable…

Moses Suli? Future second rower.
Esan Masters? Future second rower.

Now we got this guy.... The commentators specifically said he is a specialist centre and that's why he replaced Latrell instead of moving Matterson or Aubuson there, who are second rowerws.

I even read on the Manly forum they want that dud Brad Parker to move to the second row.

It worked with Lawrence tho ??‍♂️

I didn’t know it at the time but the corner in which I’d just scored a preliminary-final winning try for the Roosters, the last try ever scored at the Sydney Football Stadium, was right where my family was sitting.

My mum and dad, Svetlana and Rubin, were there in a group of about 25, watching us play the Rabbitohs for a spot in the grand final. It was the first time they’d seen me play in the NRL.

It took me a little while to find them after the game. I was so happy to share that moment with my family. My partner, Matilda, who has been such a huge support for me during injuries. My grandpa, Paul, who has barely missed a game since I was six. I ran straight over to my dad and he was in tears already.

I looked up and saw my brother, Alex, who’s not really an emotional guy – but he was crying. That moment was caught on TV and it was such a special one for me. It really hit home. He was just telling me how proud he was of me.

Mum and dad work so hard and never go on holidays, not for more than a week or so. Earlier this year, my brother and I had finally convinced them to go on a big Europe trip.

But as it turned out, they missed my debut: Round 18 against the Titans in July. I was one of three debutants to score a try in that win, along with Sean O’Sullivan and Poasa Faamausili. A little slice of history – it had never been done before. Mum and dad were a bit upset to miss it.

I thought that game would be it for me this year but then, Latrell Mitchell got suspended.

I was excited when I was given the nod to play that prelim. I was in a bit of shock but after that, there were no nerves. It was just pure excitement to get an opportunity again.

I knew that it was probably my last chance to wear a Roosters jersey – jersey No.20, as it turned out – given I was leaving the club for Wests Tigers. It turned out perfectly. I’m just grateful that Trent Robinson trusted me enough to play such a big game, in only the second match of my career.

At first i didnt think much of this signing. I think like most it looked like a depth signing.

The penny is starting to drop however, he was stuck behind Mitchell and Manu.

He comes across a little like a Curtis Scott type, that would be fantastic. Anything more will come down to coaching and playing weight.

This kid gets a starting spot in my opinion, all going well a full preseason with no injuries and he gets handed a centre position.

From the little I've seen of him and the fact that Robinson had the confidence to play him in such a big game and by the way he handled himself, he's our best option.

Give him the spot and tell him it's his to lose, give him the opportunity to own it from game 1.

Marsters is no rocket but all the players are fitter and stronger than last year - and I know they trot that out each year, but Madge has pushed them harder than Cleary did. Momo will go alright in the centres.

Forgotten hero of Roosters' premiership eyes back-line spot at Tigers

He was one of the forgotten heroes of the Sydney Roosters' NRL premiership campaign but Paul Momirovski denies being stuck behind Latrell Mitchell was the catalyst for his decision to move to the Wests Tigers.

Momirovski played a small but important role in the Roosters' charge to last year's title, being called in to replace Mitchell for their grand final qualifier against South Sydney after the NSW and Australian centre was suspended for a crusher tackle.

Not only did the 22-year-old stand up to the biggest test of his young career, he scored a crucial 70th minute try in the 12-4 win.

He was ultimately overlooked for the Roosters' grand final victory over Melbourne however that couldn't dampen the confidence he took out of the experience of contributing to the Tri Colours' 14th premiership.

"It did a lot for my confidence, just to know I can be on the field with those types of people," Momirovski said.

"To go out there and get the win, it was just a relief for me. Because I only played two games last year.

"It was a game that mattered and that adds pressure. You don't want to be the person that slots in and derails the season."

Momirovski's only other appearance in 2018 came in the Roosters' controversial round-18 win over the Gold Coast before signing a two-year deal with the Tigers.

He now shapes as a contender to fill a vacancy in Tigers back line this year, battling it out with the likes of Mahe Fonua and Corey Thompson for a spot in the back five.

Momirovski denies the chance to play regular first-grade drove his decision to move to the joint venture, saying he simply thought it was the best environment to get the most out of his career.

"I wouldn't say that [because his path to first-grade was blocked at the Roosters he moved to the Tigers] because you just never know that's what you're going to be doing," Momirovski said.

"People can make changes up until June 30\. You're never secure in a spot.

"You've just got to make the decision that at the time you think is going to make me a better person, a better footballer."
