To be brutally honest we have depth as a club but we dont have outstanding talent in the squad.I am pleased with the effort Ivan is getting out of the team which makes us competitve each week.
We need and i am sure we will have more class at the club next year let Ivan/Pascoe do their job.Far to many people on here wanted to believe it could all be rectified in 1 off season. It takes time.

Not a truer word spoken on this forum…..and just to add I honestly think Benji is stifling Brooks and he cant control the game with Benji taking over...thats why Tui and others cant start making inroads and playing to the gameplan because Benji breaks it down with the miracle play at the worst moments of the game..
This squad can and will beat some of the best in the NRL,however they need to gel and sort things out which doesnt happen overnight....

x2

I have been pretty positive all year.

However lets not gloss over last week as a gutsy 2 point loss.

We went in the game as favourites against a depleted Roosters and blew it.

These were the games Cleary assembled this sort of squad to win.

And we lost it ourselves. They didn't beat us. That is disappointing.

Im still really happy with the way we are competing. However we need some improvement in attack.

I dont want 5-6 changes however I thought 1 or 2 were needed in key spots.

Anyway lets see how it goes this weekend. Hopefully I'm wrong and we come out and win.

BINGO!!!!

That's when you know Round 1 was a big fluke….they had there best players missing and we cough up that performance .

There is no direction in our attack , it's like no one knows what we are going to do or how we are supposed to attack in the opposition Red Zone .
To much one out stuff and no variety, it's so easily read for the opposition as long as the opposition doesn't rush up we are no threat in attack .

Lolohea should of been dropped and Thompson to fullback with Naiqama to Centres , Reynolds for Benji with Benji to Reserves and Tyson Gamble to the bench ( that's what i would have done ).

How ET is still hooker is dumb , his service from dummy half is poor and thought Cleary was smarter than that .

Glad Cleary didn't pick that team then - he is obviously smarter.

Team still playing for 80 and have each other's backs. Looking qt the big picture we are doing ok, although 3 games now we lost, the opposition didn't win.

Eddie I enjoy most of your contributions but this isn't true. You had as pegged for a shocking season and then changed your mind with the benefit of hindsight after we played well.

You're changing your mind again with the benefit of hindsight, this time based on losses instead of wins.

I have no issue with your views, but don't think you have been positive. Like half the forum, I'd say you're yo-yoing based on performance and results.

I believe we have the foundation to get this right in a big way over the next couple of years, patience my friends.

First to admit I had this side pegged all wrong , as frustrating as some of the losses have been , I never imagined we would be in 11/13 games up to our eyeballs and barely outside the 8 at the halfway mark

I wouldn't be writing this season off just yet , a lot of sides have to get through SOO and then make a run for the Top 8

I think we have to get used to following a half decent team again. I didn't realise the impact of our last few years until this season, the way I feel about the team now is so much better than anytime since 2011\. I've joked before we all have PTSD but maybe it's not a joke!

We have a squad that was the best Ivan and Co could pull together at pretty short notice. Of course it's not perfect but we are in the Top 8 and have a chance to stay there, that wasn't what most non Tigers expected.
Hooker has been a struggle for sure but it seemed that the early plan was for Liddle/Reynolds but injuries to both have meant that wasn't possible but we have got through with Taylor, Godinet and other combinations. Hands up who thought Hooker was a problem for us at the start of the year. No, me neither
Lolo has disappointed but again injuries have played a part, Thompson has done real well but I still think it's worth persevering with Lolo for the attacking x-factor he brings and what happens with Mbye may impact that position going forward
Benji on balance has done more than we all expected even if there have been a few puzzling moments, but hey, has it really been that different over the years, plus he now brings a calming influence over the team in his elder statesman role and I for one think this has been of great assistance to Brooksy who has been one of our best when most forumers would have had him under the bus not on it before the year started
Marsters and Fonua have the makings of a long term centre pairing and we have at least three first grade quality wingers
Pack has been OK but not as good as hoped week in week out although defensively they are great, which in some ways is what we have built our position on the table on. Again its a good pack with depth but no real rock stars, pretty much like most of our team
With that all said Ivan has done a hell of a job and I for one aren't about to criticise his every selection

old man tiger by positive I mean I have been really happy with performances in line with my expectations (which was 15th)

I had very low expectations for this squad and I have been really happy with the way they have competed and tackled each week.

I also like to to change opinion - alter my view - based on new information as it comes to hand (as in watching them play)

I dont think there is anything wrong with that. I said numerous times ill be happy if I am proved wrong.

7 wins form 13 is very good on the whole scale of things. However we could still finish bottom 4 or Top 8 - the trajectory is pointing down at the at the minute.

Just a better positional fullback that shows more heart. You said it.

Thats seems fairly clear cut to me considering the cultural change the club is trying to bring about.

I thought lack of attack was the current problem, not culture?

I'm fine with Thommo to FB and Tui to reserves but it's a marginal improvement at best IMO.

I cannot believe Lolohea is in this side. His contribution last week & lack of effort simple should not have been rewarded with selection again. I am not sure if he is injured or just unfit but he seems uninterested & lacking motivation.
Thomson has been our best fullback all year, always in support & totally committed in defence . The past two weeks we have played 12 against 13 and it looks like that the plan again this week - I just don't get it. . For all the effort & close results the season could go south real quick if we don't have 13goers on the field .

We struggled to score against Penrith as well and Thompson was FB that game. In fact we are one of the lower ranked attacking sides and Thompson has started at FB in half those matches.

Thought this was a good post Curly Tiger.

You could teach a few of of us about a measured opinion.

The supplementary numbers are Taylor and Reynolds

Bloody Jackpotted again

Speaking of Jackpot
Power ball $50 million this Thursday

TPA here I come

Cleary junior
Addo carr
RCG
Corey Oats
Damien Cook
Tevita Pangai Junior

Ah that should help

Are TPA donations tax deductible?

Nobut, if you provide a TPA for a rorters player, your business will most likely receive an increase in sales revenue equivalent to or great than the TPA provided.

Wests Tigers: 1 Tuimoala Lolohea, 2 Malakai Watene-Zelezniak, 3 Esan Marsters, 4 Mahe Fonua, 5 Corey Thompson, 6 Benji Marshall, 7 Luke Brooks, 8 Russell Packer, 9 Elijah Taylor, 10 Ben Matulino, 11 Chris Lawrence ©, 12 Michael Chee-Kam, 13 Matthew Eisenhuth
\
\
Interchange: 14 Alex Twal, 15 Josh Reynolds, 16 Josh Aloai, 17 Tim Grant

I really like our bench this week. I would have Kevin ahead of Lolohea at full back. MCK has been great as a super sub from the bench but struggles as a starting Second Rower.
\
\
Maybe it's time to give Garner a spot in the NRL top 30 and give him a run at second row.
\
\
The lack of points scoring is my biggest concern this year.

Hope as a team we can finish the year strongly and attract Nathan Clearly and a strong second rower to our club.

I would be happy to take Woods back but for the right price only.
