I guess they are worried about Ponga and wanted more defensive focus moving Momo to center.

Shame as Talau didn’t do anything that warranted him being dropped - he out performed Masters.

That was my thoughts too.
We leaked a few points last week down talaus side. It may not have been his fault but I'm guessing Momo and Jennings are more experienced

I understand where you are coming from but Jennings last game for us was one of the worst defensive displays i've ever seen. Talau has been really hard done by.

Anyone have any thoughts as too why we have only named 20 players and not 21

I noticed that to, are we bringing someone else in

Cupboard is bare ..or hoping they have applied for an exemption for Soni Luke..at least he's a 9...

Hope you are right Geo, we are wasting our time with makeshift hookers

Talau- gets ecstatic after first appearance for his club. Did nothing wrong in the game, made a line-break and Maguire drops him. Um, I think there definitely could have been a better option (maybe by...keeping Talua!) and not replacing him with Jennings.
Jennings- Gets dropped for a reason- was just useless and complete rubbish. He should make the Canterbury Cup his home.

I thought that last week’s team was the worst I’d seen us name - this week is even worse.

Name a better one.

I'd have Brooks move to 9 and Reynolds at 6.
I'd have Talau in and keep Jennings out.
I'd have Eisenhuth nowhere near the first team.
I would have Lawrence on the bench and only coming on for a late cameo for romantic purposes and to appease fans.
Then I'd blood as many youngsters as possible.

Would we have to get exemptions to blood new players? I do agree with most of your choices but I prefer Huth to Taylor.

Not for the ones in our top 30 already. Not sure about the other development players. So, McIntyre, Seyfarth, Smith and Talau can be used without one.

I don't think we need exemptions. As such, I'd have neither Huth or Taylor.

Defence is 50% of the game guys, so taking Brooks and placing him at hooker may be ok within itself as he is strong, but what about the left hand side where Garner (who struggles somewhat already) will have to assist a grabber alongside him and a similarly unfamiliar Momirovski further left will be in the same boat.

Personally, I would choose to rotate Benji and Josh in the nine, especially as it would likely cause little disruption defensively on that right edge, with both having similar styles in that regard. Plus Lawrence will be alongside, now that MCK has rightly gone back to the bench.

NFI.
But playing Jennings and Eisenhuth IS giving up!
Not giving Talau another go means he may be starting 2020 with virtually no experience. Might as well have left him out last week too then! What was the point?!
Lawrence surely won't be offered another contract.
So yeah, I'm over season 2019. Barring a major miracle this year is almost certainly another failure.
It's now about season 2020 as far as I'm concerned. Any wins from here on in (while we experiment and blood youngsters) are a bonus.

Firstly we are still a mathematical chance of making the eight even though it would be a miracle. So maybe if we lose this one we could cautiously experiment with one forward and one back with the remaining two games.

My feelings on Jennings are well known (do not need to repeat them again) - Talau in the last two yes and maybe a forward. However, we do this and it is Madge's and Tigers reputation on the line - lose and in a couple years people could be saying - yeah! and in 2019 we finished second last, get rid of this coach.

Blooding a heap of youngsters in the last few games is not on (then again I have NFI according to you).

As for a token appearance for Rowdy, that is just laughable, I'll forget you even said it.

I have NFI - not you.
Chill.

Rowdy should have been let go 5 years ago, when even then, we had been carrying him for 3 years.
What he gives the team in sentimentality he more than makes up for with dropped balls.
Look, I am a romantic so happy for him to pop up now and again as a filler, but he hasn’t been anywhere near first grade standard since 2012.

Ok mate, you win - Rowdy is hopeless........

defense is the focus this week according to Thompson,

"build pressure up front, and let our defense do the talking"

who will be goal kicking this week ?

I'm hoping we score enough tries for this to become an important factor

I think we will struggle to keep them below 22
