WESTS Tigers Team V Penrith...

I think it will work with Mahe….he has fought so hard to get back and then he lets his professionalism slip and he is back to where he started. Fringe first graders should never be late for anything.

If it’s true it’s ridiculous. We have a much better chance of beating Penrith with him in the team than without him.

Yeah you'd think in this instance a fine would've been more appropriate !
Panthers +13

Fonua not playing means we'll get beat 13+?

TURN, IT. UP.

You can't underestimate the effect 1 player can have on the teams performance.

1 missed tackle from Kev. A big run from Fonua to get us on the front foot. 1 big tackle to force an error or stop the other teams momentum. These are the kind of moments that can change a game.

Take Fonua and Aloiai out and we lose our 2 main impact runners.

We're not gonna win and its partly because Fonua isn't playing.

But but but can't CK be that player.

It won’t be the reason we win or lose. If we don’t control the ball and lose the ruck we will lose.

Look, I’m as much of a fan of his as anyone else, I can understand why people are annoyed. But let’s get real, we’ve won one game with him in the side this year. It’s pretty melodramatic to think not only will we lose without him, but also get lapped.

Geez. What is it with our Centres being late for training!

Most of our wins were without Fonua in the side. We can win without him.
Players move to Melbourne to be part of a culture where everyone puts in.

Not saying we’ll lose because he’s not there, Penrith are a good team and we could lose regardless. But you’d have to think our chances of winning are better with Fonua there.

The last game we won without Fonua was against a crap Manly team.

We're not as good as we were at the start of the season. And every other team is better than they were at the start of the season.

Not saying Fonua is the only reason we won or that we can't win without him but, we need every advantage we can get to win games atm.

The leaders have been part of the decision. They will set up. We win be on our game.
Tacky, image if MCK was late for training.

The Fonua thing, I think is more than just setting high expectations and culture.

It also reinforces positive attributes on-field. It might sound like a stretch, but a player who thinks he can come late to training and not put in, can easily become a player who thinks he can breeze through a game and still get his paycheque and FG spot. That's part of the broader argument about having depth, to be able to penalise people who don't put in on or off the field and still field a decent team.

It's not just about money with footballers, there is the pride / ego / career aspect of playing regular FG, so I support a dumping as opposed to a fine. Sure you can fine a bloke 10K but when he might be on 200+K, per year, it can still be change to some of these guys.

Also with depth, like the Aussie cricket sides of years gone by, if you drop out of the top side and your replacement performs, you might not find yourself back in it.

Instead of everyone being disappointed with Ivan’s decision to drop Mahe, you should be disappointed at Mahe for missing training.

It happens. Everyone has been late and had the consequences. If you care it only happens once. Fonua will be back and destroying very soon.

I’d hate to be marking him in isp this week though
