Looking at that bench I would guess Mbye will give Liddle a rest and Talau covers injuries in the back line/back row..

Last week Mikaele played 35mins Utoikamanu 33 mins Tommy 21 mins and Packer a blistering 11 mins..

Packer
What a legend
How many meters ?

48
All time high

Not bad in 11 minutes

Bloke ran 48m in 4 runs in 11 minutes in a well beaten team but people are still bagging him.

Just to clarify.....30m of that 48m was off a kick return. So if you take that away it was 18m off 3 runs

But to be fair he was only on for 11m at a time when we were get run over and just defending

He made 6 tackles and missed none.

I was of the belief "all run metres" was a separate figure from kick return. He made 17m post contact which I assume was from his standard runs rather than the kick return. I'm not really up to watching the replay to confirm.

Keep having patience. Garner will come good. Madge is trying to light a fire in him.

Unless that fire means he can get an opposing player to the ground I want none of it

“James Roberts was on light duties at training on Wednesday with Tommy Talau training in his place at centre...The Tigers said he will train properly on Thursday.”
Roberts was replaced towards the end of Sunday’s game with what appeared to be a shoulder issue

Bennett does not muck around, dropped Mansour after one game.

That will fix things, dropping a old, slow winger. Im sure that will be the difference between winning and losing.

So the same Bennett that "does not muck around" by dropping a winger to fix a teams problems, also signed that slow old winger to a 2 year contract.......yep Bennett does not muck around, glad he is not here.

We need agression in the spine, Laurie so far is the only one.
Dueihie may help, but i think Simkin could add that sting that we miss. I think he woud learn just as much , if not more playing in the top grade . All this BS about experience and youth, and bring them on slowly is just --BS,.

What about Madden ...you've dropped him like a hot potato

He's not ready. Work in progress.

Cruel but fact: The last time Wests Tigers beat Sydney Roosters at Campbelltown, Daniel Fitzhenry and Lincoln Withers were the halves pairing. The Roosters had Brad Fittler and Brett Finch in the halves

I think we have only won 1 out of the last 10 or 12 games against Roosters

We've only played the Roosters 3 times at CSS since that 2003 match. So it's a bad record but we haven't had many opportunities to specifically do better at CSS.

Worse stat by some margin - only defeating Roosters twice in 20 attempts since 2010, including 4 losses in 2010-2011 when we were a Top 4 side.

Only defeated Roosters once since 2012 (15 attempts) and that was only because Tedesco dropped a pass with the line open, then Tui Lolo kicked a late sideline conversion.

How the hell did a team consisting of Rochow, Godinet, Lolohea, MWZ, Packer and the rest of the duds manage to win 5 out of 6 games to start that season including roosters and Melbourne twice!

Then we lost to all the spud teams and came 9th. Shows how much not only our team has improved but everyone else's, the quality of NRL squads are mostly just getting better and better.

Luke Brooks is set to become the first halfback in Wests Tigers history to reach 150 games for the club after Coach Michael Maguire named his 21-man squad for this Sunday’s Round 2 clash against the Sydney Roosters.

Having played 149 first-grade games for the club since his debut in 2013, the local junior Brooks will bring up the milestone in front of the club’s home fans for the first time this season with Wests Tigers welcoming the ladder-leading Roosters to Campbelltown Sports Stadium for the first time since 2017.

Brooks will join fellow local junior Adam Doueihi in the halves for the first time this year after the five-eighth watched last Sunday’s season opener from the sidelines due to a suspension carrying over from 2020.

Doueihi’s return to the side sees the versatile Moses Mbye shift to the interchange bench in jersey 14, with Russell Packer dropping to the reserves alongside Alex Seyfarth, Michael Chee Kam and Jock Madden.

Wests Tigers are otherwise unchanged from their last-start defeat to Canberra which saw five players — Daine Laurie, James Roberts, James Tamou, Joe Ofahengaue and Stefano Utoikamanu — make their club debuts. Sunday’s game will also be Tamou’s first time captaining Wests Tigers in a home NRL fixture.

Having named an initial 21-man squad for the clash, Wests Tigers will provide an updated 19-man team list at 4:05pm on Saturday before finalising their side one hour prior to kickoff (3:05pm, Sunday).

I think Tommy could be a very good ball playing lock, similar to Cameron Murray but slightly bigger and faster. Plus he was a 5/8 coming through so has good ball playing skills.

TT - 189cm / 92kg

Agree, posted that 9 months ago, not many agreed back then. He is a much better option than Twal imo.

Twal played a very tradesman-like game, the no frills kind Bellamy would ask for, we could use a few of his boofhead mates to follow his lead.

Almost every time he ran the ball he hit the line softly, they held him on his feet and walked him slowly while their line was getting set. Looks good on paper with his post tackle metres and he was safe, but compare his play to that of Tamou and Joffa who are fellow props? I like him in the team for what he brings but if we’re looking for areas to improve we can’t just look at players who drop the ball.

While Tamou, Joffa and Twal were doing their thing we were well in the game, then the brain faders got involved. Imagine Bellyache up in the box if his players did some of that stuff. He’d end up in intensive care.
