You'd think this is Leilua's last chance to earn an unlikely NRL contract next year. With AJ injured and Talau having to play on the wing because we have no wingers, he's guaranteed a spot until we get a winger.
I would imagine that boat has already sailed,in the time he has been here he has done zero to warrant the club take up his option for next year. The same probably applies to Roberts but since he arrived late he may have a few more weeks grace but he also has been terrible so far
Our centres are terrible and their may lie the really major problem for Wests Tigers.
Manly didn’t score trys through our Centers. They scored trys trough our middle forwards. The Centers are the least of our problems.
It’s too simplistic to say our centres missed tackles and our forwards were bad in d.
You watched the game again Mike, did you notice any patterns emerge from both sides.
I did.
Our forwards including the distribution off Simpkin don’t set a run to a weakness in the opposition. But not only that it’s hard to explain but manly was kinda dictating where they wanted us to run with how they set their defensive structure.
Alternatively I noticed Jake Simpkin and MBye in almost double the tackles that Lachlan Crocker were in. Manly continually seeked both out and ran there.
This seems to be a really bad pattern. Of all sides I watch play our Front Rowers leave our smaller forwards exposed one on one a lot.
On the tries Manly scored.
A couple of their try’s were attributed by Chee Kam, Musgrove and Brooks misses.
At the stage of those tries a Lucy was stuck at Marker.
It seemed as though Manly would try and lure Lucy in the play before so that there was a bigger weakness in our defensive line.
One play Tom was tackled on tackle 3 or 4 on the right. And the commentators were waxing lyrical about this play because Tom was involved in the final pass on the far left. But what was so poor about our defence in that next play, two players involved in the tackle ran back to the short side to sure up that end. No one on the short, slid across to the open to plug up the numbers.
The same thing happened in the Foran try where Doueihi had been caught up and in the line and the players either side were hanging back. Laurie for one our fullback was plugging the short. He had no chance of getting across to be the last line of defence. But what was more concerning is once again when Foran went through for that try, that side was overlapped by about 3 players.
