Wests Tigers to Liverpool’s Carnes Hill ...

What a glorious start to the day. Common sense was always bound to prevail.

Let's just hope the polititicians have as much common sense and don't find excuses to not build the stadium there.
We might need to get together with another club (bulldogs sadly) and the wanderers soccer club to get the stadium built.

Took the words right out of my mouth. We're zero chance of having a stadium purpose built all to ourselves, it just won't happen. We indeed would need the Dogs, Wanderers and even GWS to get the ball rolling. Call it Greater Western Sydney stadium or something along those lines

It's promising news. Nothing more.

Still need funding and that's no certainty.

A stadium will be a long, long way off. 20-30 years at best. It's not happening in the current stadium developments so expect it to be some time before any more funding is spent on stadiums.

And for those saying it's in the middle of our nurseries, it's not, don't pretend it is. It's a long way from the inner west of Balmain, Gladesville, Ryde. I don't care where it is though, but yes many of our juniors will have to travel further to get there.

But in the end better facilities is a win, no doubt and anyone get paid to play footy will go wherever they need to get to training.

If we're looking for a halfway point to appease both sides, where would you suggest we look at if LIvo is not the answer?

In order for this to happen it requires a $10m injection from the federal government…..will never happen!

Why can't we get the money off uncle Harry?

I wondered that too GNR.
He either doesn't want too, or his family won't let him..Who knows.

I have heard "what Uncle Harry wants,Uncle Harry gets",depends on IF he wants it bad enough….

Good news, however it really needs a stadium there as well to play home games at, and that is just a pipe dream at the moment.

I'm sure Harry pays enough taxes without building things for the government on top of that.

Remember this is a council initiative, they will be the owners of the complex, whoever uses the facilities will just be the tenants.

That's why Harry won't be building it.

But people ask him to build the leagues club

When Phil Gould needed govt money to fund the extensive works he has planned for the Panthers, he was so far up the backsides of the local ministers and department heads that he needed a snorkel to breath through.

Looks to have paid off though.

C'mon Marina, strut your stuff and show us what ya got.

Surely you get the difference between a multistory private development that he could make bucket loads of money off, and effectively a $10m donation to Liverpool council.

Well it seems all the positive vibes and feelings outlined by nearly everyone in this thread are not shared by all. This is the headline that just popped into my Facebook feed:

**Outrage as Wests Tigers ignore Campbelltown (again)**

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/newslocal/macarthur/campbelltown-snubbed-as-wests-tigers-announce-plans-to-shift-operations-to-liverpool/story-fngr8h70-1227461357827

It seems Jim Marsden, Scott Morris, Paul Lake and Russell Matheson are all up in arms about the decision.

But isn't he suppose to be a supporter? You mean to tell me Harry is only in it for the money?

Obviously you didn't understand the previous points.

So as not to derail the thread and start a 15 page back and forth, i'll just wish you a nice day.

I can understand the politicians standing up for their locality, but the amount of preciousness in that piece is ridiculous.
As long as we end up with the best possible facility, with the best possible support from the govt, then I couldn't care less where we train.

Really? I doubt that those with his wealth would pay much tax at all. Anyway, yes, the ratepayers will own this complex if it is built but the stadium is another question; maybe Meriton Stadium would be good publicity for Harry.

At this stage, according to today's statement from Wests Tigers, no decision has been made, so DT might be jumping the gun.

Tell that to the people living in Camden and Denham Court

Have to laugh Campbelltown has never embraced the Magpies or Weststigers ever , I should know went there from the first game played by the Magpies way back then…

Meh
Livvo…Cambo...same s*** to me

All Cambo people ever seem to do is whinge and moan...fair dinkum its a bloody welfare attitude there...poor us, never bloody happy

Yep, very much a sense of entitlement attitude, rather than what is best for the club.
