6pm Friday is an insane slot…. Which bright spark dreamed this one up?

You guys will have to knock off early arvo just so you can make the game.

I book my own jobs, so I can usually schedule my week around the footy. My missus works in financial services in the city though, so Friday nights can be a struggle. Fortunately all the cambo games last year were on a Saturday, so we weren't trying to get down the M5 straight from work.

#NRL DRAW NRL - National Rugby League CEO Todd Greenberg has confirmed the 2017 fixture will be launched later this week.

. Further reports indicate ANZ Stadium is presenting scheduling problems and is unavailable for Rounds 2 and 3.

Definitely not available on the Friday night in round 2 as the girlfriend is dragging me along to Adele that night :bawling

Bieber is playing wed 15th after Adele but nothing there apparently until April.

I can't see why the musicians and the NRL can't use the venue at the same time. That would be something.
Russell has gained support amongst the Hollywood set.
I'd like to see Bieber come on as an impact player off the bench, for Souths.

Just reading some comments from one of our ''supporters'' on Facebook

''I bet he wins the game for them & makes an idiot out of Taylor . I hate souths, but I'll be barracking for them round 1''

''the Tigers robbied him of being a one club player & I love seeing Taylor lose. I hope they beat us 100- 0''

The Tigers robbied him? I think he robbied himself. Sounds like this bloke's been robbied as well. Souths were predicting some new converts. No loss.

The Facebook dude has certainly got some hate issues toward JT apparently…. He has forgotten that RF is at a new club with a different coach and has to play to new and varying structures,he may adapt well in the new environment or he may take awhile to settle into the role the coach wants him to play....its not a given that he would "tear us apart" he may be unsettled and get hammered himself, time will tell......RF is at a new stage in his career,I wish him all the best, the WTs are developing well and heading in the right direction it seems, success for the team and club could be just around the corner,I can't wait for kickoff 2017 especially if the team and coaches have a great pre season and we secure some of the players still negotiating contracts..

And send Sue at him.

Hey everyone it's safe to put Elijah Taylor in your sides now….

Be good just to get this game over and done really….the media will be all over it. But just like us on here tho.

Geo , your missing out on a sausage sizzle at League Central after the draw comes out

Wonder if they are better than the Saturday morning Bunnings efforts ??

NRL Draw 2017: Robbie Farah set to face Wests Tigers in opening round of the season

It includes a reduction in five day turnarounds, the introduction of a 6pm Friday game and matches in every mainland state.

The season will kick off with the Auckland Nines (February 4 and 5) and the popular All Stars game which will be held in Newcastle for the first time on February 10.

The World Club Series will feature the Sharks against the Wigan Warriors in the main game with the Broncos taking on the Warrington Wolves.

The NRL Premiership will be launched with a series of blockbuster games in Round One including the Cowboys v Raiders, Sea Eagles v Eels and the Rabbitohs v Tigers which will see Robbie Farah take on his former club.

The Bulldogs will take on the Storm in the first 6pm Friday match at Belmore Stadium.

Greenberg said the new time slot would give fans a full night of NRL on Fridays.

"Fans will be able to see two games live on Fridays and, while the early game may present some challenges in terms of attendances, we think it will be a big hit," he said.

"Certainly this is a much more family friendly time than the late-night Friday game that we had a couple of years ago."

The 2017 season will also feature:

A representative round from May 5-7 which will include a men's and women's Test and the final Country v City match at Mudgee
State of Origin matches on May 31 and 12 July (in Brisbane) and June 21 (Sydney)
A reduction in the number of five-day turnarounds - from 31 to 19
Matches being held in every mainland state with the Roosters taking a match to Adelaide for the first time when they play the Storm in Round 16
The Premiership Finals Series will begin on September 8 and culminate in the Grand Final on October 1.
"But the season won't end there," Greenberg added.

"The Rugby League World Cup will be held from October 26 to December 2, featuring the best talent from around the world."

"So it promises to be quite a season … and it all begins in just over two months' time!"

Dear Guinness World Records,
\
\
\
I am writing to you in the hopes that you will send an official judge to Allianz Stadium in Sydney on Friday 31st of March for the National Rugby League game between Sydney Roosters and Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.

There is no doubt, lock it in, a world record will be set for this match. For you see, the NRL has just announced its draw for season 2017 and one of the new additions is a 6pm Friday timeslot. I put it to you, Mr. Guinness, that this game will set an all-time record for the least amount of people to a first grade rugby league anywhere in the world. Ever!

In a grab for television ratings and television ratings alone, somebody at the NRL thought it would be a good idea to alienate the fans – again.

You could call it the Alienational Rugby League.

Marxist theory says alienation is a condition of workers in a capitalist economy, resulting from a lack of identity with the products of their labor and a sense of being controlled or exploited.

Sound familiar?

Todd Greenberg and his minions must have thought, “6pm sounds good. If we can walk out of the office and jump in the back of our chauffeured cars, why can’t Joe Punter do the same? (sans chauffeured car).

The disconnect widens.

In round one, a rare match at Canterbury’s spiritual home of Belmore Sportsground, the Bulldogs host Cameron Smith and the Melbourne Storm in the first 6pm clash. If you’re a Bulldogs fans or even a Melbourne supporter and work in the CBD, it will take you around 55-60 minutes to get to the venue. That means you’d be thirty minutes late for kick-off if you had to leave work at 5.30pm. If you live out Campbelltown way, you won’t get to Belmore Sportsground until 6.35pm.

Rounds two and three are both in New Zealand with home games for the Warriors and Bulldogs respectively.

Penrith Panthers face Newcastle in round four at Pepper Stadium. Forget it if you’re a Knights diehard. Just to make it for kick-off you will have to leave Newcastle by 2.30pm.

But I digress, Mr. Guinness World Records.

Back to round five between the Roosters and Eagles and their leviathan-sized fan bases that Manchester United, Chicago Bulls and New York Yankees could only dream of.

It’s almost as if the NRL has shrugged their shoulders and said, “Stuff it, who cares? They’re playing it live at the pubs!”

And do you reckon the two dozen Manly tragics that would normally consider making the trip over the Harbour Bridge are going to come down in Friday afternoon traffic? It will only be 8pm when they start heading back. The traffic will be worse then!

But wait there’s more, agents of free speech.

In round six, Canterbury head up to Newcastle for a 6pm game at the newly named McDonald Jones Stadium (they build homes apparently).

Hey Doggies fans – question without notice. Are you willing to leave work at 2pm on a Friday, drive 160 kilometres north to see your team play?

It’s okay, don’t feel embarrassed.

Who would want to?!

When this decision is proven to be the catastrophic, disaster we all know it will be, someone will have to cop the blame.

Somebody from League Central will have to somehow explain that on their stupid little yellow notepad, they jotted down more “pros” than “cons”.

And then he shall be sacked for one of the most short-sighted, ludicrous scheduling decisions in the history of rugby league.

Get ready, Guinness World Records.

Get ready.

breaking news, Souths big-off-season recruit Robbie Farah has torn his bicep at training and his facing considerable time on the sideline.

It’s understood he’ll be right for Round One next year. If he had surgery he would’ve been out for 3-6 months.

South Sydney signed the Wests Tigers veteran Robbie Farah for the 2017 and 2018 NRL seasons.

With 247 first-grade games to Farah's credit, Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire was pleased to to add the representative hooker to his squad.
