Not criticizing him….like you say he was OK for NSW this year. But his time is coming to an end because of his age- he will retire after 2018 or go to SuperLeague so NSW need to start looking at a replacement for him. Peats is pretty ordinary, but NSW doesn't exactly have an abundance of hookers on the rise.
I can't think of too many decent 9's, perhaps NSW will look to throw in a utility type player in at hooker?

I like how the article Geo posted has a clickbait headline about how the injury threatens the round 1 blockbuster, yet in the article it goes into great detail about how Farah will actually be fit.

Lets be honest. Brooks couldn't put pressure on a grape. He needs to lift big time. Talk of Origin for him atm is laughable.

Can't see NSW selectors dropping Maloney/Moylan unless they have a shocking start to the year. In saying that, the Canberra 1/2s, Cleary, Pearce, etc. are probably ahead of our lads.

Short term they will stick with what they have but Cleary and Moses will be the long term 7 and 6 and probably turn the blues fortunes around for a few years. Really can not see Brooks getting his nose in front of Cleary mainly due to his goal kicking ability. Although very hard to draw comparisons between them as one is playing behind a dominant pack and the other isn't

I think we really need to see how Cleary goes next year before we make judgement on him. Do you remember the wraps on Brooks after one game " the next Andrew Johns".
Until Moses improves his defence there is no way he will be playing origin. Besides Maloney was the blues best last season and won the comp with Cronulla , so he would almost be first picked.

Wests Tigers halves Luke Brooks and Mitch Moses have tipped former teammate Robbie Farah to star at the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2017.
While a recent biceps injury threatened to impact the beginning of Farah's season, he remains set to face his former Tigers side in the highly-anticipated Round 1 clash.
Brooks quashed suggestions Farah's departure from the Tigers' Concord base has seen an upheaval at the club.
"It hasn't changed too much. I think everyone is over that now. Robbie has moved on. He's at Souths and I wish him the best there," Brooks said.
"I think he still has a lot to offer at the Rabbitohs. I think the way they play with their big forwards will help. He'll fit in at Souths perfectly."
Moses can't wait to face off against Farah for the first time and was equally complimentary of the New South Wales Origin vice-captain's arrival at Redfern.
"Robbie will be massive for Souths," Moses said.
"They have that massive pack of forwards but they were also missing the type of player like Robbie."
With veteran utility Dene Halatau (retirement) also leaving the Tigers, the hole in the club's experience hasn't piled any extra pressure on Brooks.
"I think everyone on the team is in the same boat when it comes leadership with the older boys leaving," Brooks said.
"Everyone is a year older, we all have more games under our belt and we're starting to be a lot more confident in ourselves."
"Luke and I will try and take control of the team," Moses added.
"We're all young players but we have also played together enough in first grade so there's no excuse to say we're too young now."
Meanwhile Brooks expressed his desire for further game time alongside experienced hooker Matt Ballin.
Ballin was restricted to just two games however when he required his second knee reconstruction in two seasons.
Matt McIlwrick and Jacob Liddle should provide handy back-up in Ballin's expected early-season absence but it's the former Sea Eagle who Brooks has his eyes on.
"Hopefully [Ballin will] be back for Round 1\. That's his aim. He's a great player and a great person to have around the club," Brooks said.
"We have done bits and pieces at training as he's obviously still coming back from his knee injury so we haven't done as much as we would've liked. But after Christmas we'll get into it."
