Wests Tigers Unite

I think at its core its basically a mailing list of all WT supporters that want to see change at the club. One thing I noticed in the lead up to this event was the amount of miscommunication and misleading information. Creating WT Unite will mean there is now a single channel of communication.

I'm all in on a central fan association. The only thing I want to understand is how it's structured and how ongoing leadership is handled If it is to last beyond this current situation.

If it's going to be an influential and central voice for all fans, I'll support it if there's a mechanism for genuine fan sentiment to be represented. That includes allowing guys like BZN to have a say through their "vote" or whatever mechanism is used.

While I agree with the current stance being taken, If it's agenda driven only and a "follow me" movement, it's all a bit Holman Barnes for me.

I'd be interested in more detail.

More details as they become known. It’s about applying pressure to HBG to return the Wests Tigers Board to independence.
Ok fair enough. Look forward to more details as they become known. Good initiative though if structured the right way.

Darcy was the one that promoted it....his words were along the lines of giving supporters a voice. The main thrust was anti HBG and their archaic debenture system and support of an independent board...so i guess if those things dont resonate with you, dont bother signing up. Also said he is giving HBG till the first trial at leichhardt to get their act together...if they dont than the protests kick off again, starting at that game.

It's not that it doesn't resonate with me. Have you read my posts over the last week? You can accuse me of a lot of things, but you can't accuse me of not supporting the move to oust HBG.

I'm looking beyond this isolated issue. I think a fan association like they have in the EPL would be great for the club.

Just saying that if it's going to be a central, strong, influential and lasting voice it's wise to set it up In such a way that the will of the fans that support it, is mirrored in the leadership.

It's the same thing you're protesting against...the fans will does not align with the current leaders and we are helpless to change it. Doing things in that way will eventually lead to discontent and division.

If this initiative is being setup as a single-issue movement and that's all, then my comments aren't relevant and don't apply.

Sorry mate, was not accusing you of anything...just sharing my interpretation...if anything it was probably directed more at those you were referencing in your question.

Nah..when I said you I meant in general.

I should have been more precise with my words.

No need to apologise.

Totally support the cause, but I'm thinking bigger than this moment in time so this can never happen again.

Every time they do something stupid, it's like the fans have to start from scratch. An established and organsied fan association with the ability to mobilise a lot of people very quickly will be in the back of their minds before they try to pull a stunt like this in future. I think this latest situation can be the catalyst for the formation of something like that.

A central voice for fans was also mentioned. Hopefully it all comes together so that everyone can get involved and have their say.

As mentioned at the March/meeting today this was just the start.

Once wests tigers unite is established is it possible to get an online petition going to a set statement/request for a ‘completely’ independent board.

I’m sure the numbers would be enormous as the gathering today couldn’t catch the groundswell of supporters due to location and conflicting commitments/availability etc .

Thank you to all those that contributed to organising today. A great start.

I'd be willing to sign up providing the Wests brand is protected and it's link to the inner west and Magpies history are preserved.
I don't think it's ever been about putting a line through the heritage clubs, it's about getting rid of HBG or the debenture system or at the very least have an independent board.

My board would consist of 4 independents, 3 Wests Tigers, 1 Magpies, 1 Balmain.

Dude it's been explained thousands of times in multiple different ways.

The truth is they believe the debenture holders give them comfort that the Magpie will be protected and a Magpie agenda pushed where possible. It's the only thing that matters to them.

They genuinely think unrest against HBG is Balmain driven and not driven by WT fans on the merits of their poor leadership.

For them, time hasn't moved from 1999. The world they live in only includes Balmain and Wests fans....they cannot imagine a world that includes a WT fan.
