THE COWBOYS have named arguably their strongest side for this weekend’s trial against the Tigers at Campbelltown.

The 18-man squad features veterans Johnathan Thurston, Matt Scott, and Gavin Cooper along with young guns Ben Hampton and Coen Hess.

I guess that's the consequence of signing elsewhere so far out from the end of your current deal though.

They've been training since November, and most of them have played together for at least a year. It's not ideal, but can't be helped. Moses and Brooks have already had a bit of a run (AllStars and 9s), so it's more the hooker situation that is a bit concerning. But again - it is what it is.

But I was whinging about this the minute we picked the 9's squad for this very reason , things can change very quickly in a few weeks

And they sure as hell have , especially after today

And this is my point , people say that the rest of the clubs stars only play one trial or forgo the 9's

We aren't like other clubs

We don't have a forward based game where we can win the ruck or defence that will keep us in games if our attack doesn't fire week to week

In 2017 we are going to rely on our spine to create lots of points still which means our combinations need to be better than everyone else's

If Moses ,Brooks ,Tedesco and our hooking option (whoever that may be ) don't click we will be in trouble before a game has been played
